There's a whole lot of stuff to be happy about when the weather gets warmer.

You can finally do away with those pesky layers, feel that vitamin D on your skin and jet off around the globe to celebrate the summer in style.

But there is one major downside attached to hotter weather - we all leave our windows open to bring in some fresh air and cool down your home.

However, you may want to think twice before doing that again due to the absolutely terrifying reason why you should never leave your windows open with the lights on at night.

One girl, Jess, who goes by the handle @jaysphone2.0 online, took to TikTok to open up about the frightful experience.

The overlay text read: "PSA don't leave your windows open with the light on at night."

"No, I'm gonna cry," she began. "I left my windows open literally for two days straight."

Jess then zoomed into her ceiling to show a whole lot of bugs right above her.

"Stop because just look at my ceiling! Oh my god, I'm gonna cry. No like they're actually everywhere. What the f*ck?" she exclaimed.

She then pleaded for help on what to do before adding: "That's actually ridiculous.

"If I turn my lights off they're all gonna die. Oh my god!"

She captioned the short clip: "Someone help."

The shocking footage has gone viral on TikTok racking up over 4.3 million views.

Thousands have since rushed in to share their reactions to the creepy-crawlies nightmare with one TikTok user revealing: "THIS HAPPENED TO ME LAST NIGHT OMG I WANTED TO CRYY, I spent a whole 40 mins hoovering them up."

"WAIT ARE THEY SPIDERS??" asked a second.

A third wondered: "Why do y’all not have screens on your windows?"

"The UK not having screens is wild to me," echoed a fourth while a fifth quipped: "I've left my windows open and lights on for the past year haven't had that now I'm scared what is that????!!!"

A sixth admitted: "Omg that happened to me, slept downstairs with a candle in my room and the next day they were all dead in my candle."

"Thank you, I’ve just closed my window," penned another.

And a final TikTok user offered this nugget of wisdom: "Hoover them up and then empty the hoover outside into a bag."

Yep, that and maybe invest in a screen...
