Woman with size 36M breasts had to get husband to hold them to find out how much they weigh

Melissa Ashcroft, 30, has lifted the lid on the struggles of having size 36M breasts

A woman who has 'Britain's biggest boobs' has opened up on the toll it's taken on her day to day life.

Melissa Ashcroft, 30, has suffered a slipped disc, cuts on her bra straps, and a number of other health woes and lifestyle issues due to her size 36M breasts.

Yesterday, she appeared on ITV's This Morning to chat to hosts Ben Shepherd and Alison Hammond about how her large breasts have impacted her.

She explained: "It's funny because when I look back now, I actually got bullied for having a flat chest - and probably around year ten everyone's seemed to have stopped growing or stayed the same, and mine just were continuously growing."

Melissa added: 'I didn't have any girlfriends, if you will, to compare to - and that's what made it more difficult for me personally. [My mum] is quite big chested as well, so she would say, 'it's just in the genes, it's normal, that's us, it's hereditary.'"

The mother-of-one revealed that her breasts really started causing issues for her a couple of years after college, around the age of 19.

"That's when it was just getting ridiculous," she recalled: " The pains I was getting in my shoulders, I was getting cuts on my bra straps and I thought, 'this can't continue, this can't go on'.

"I've got a slipped disc because of it."

Ben went on to ask Melissa if she's ever actually worked out the weight of her breasts, to which she explained how she had to enlist her hubby for help.

Melissa said: "It was quite funny because a couple of years ago I made a joke to my husband and I said to him, 'Why don't you lift my boobs while I stand on the scales?' and we'll just see what weight actually comes off.

"And so he did, bless him, and yeah, about two and a half stone had dropped off the scales. Shocking."

It was impacting Melissa so much that she actually moved away from home to avoid 'stares from men'.

She said on the morning show: 'It was a city life, so I got a lot of stares, mostly from men if I'm honest as it's quite a sexualised thing. For me, I just thought, 'Everywhere I go I'm getting started at.'

"Then I moved to Scotland, and it was so rural, so you've got neighbours that are sheep and cows and I thought, "That's perfect because the sheep aren't looking. So that's why I've stayed up there mostly."

Melissa outlined how she's currently working towards getting breast reduction surgery, however, so far she's been denied the treatment on the NHS because of her BMI.

BMI, or Body Mass Index, is a medical screening tool that measures the ratio of your height to your weight to estimate the amount of body fat you have.

She explained: "My BMI has got to be 27 - I've got to maintain it for a year. My BMI right now is 35... you've got the risks of blood clots, the risks of complications, there's risks of all sorts."

Alison chimed in with: "You're in a catch 22 - your breasts weigh two and a half stone, if you took that off, you'd probably be within the safe BMI. It's like the breasts are the reason you're out of your BMI.'

"Exactly," Melissa said, "They've not really given me much support over it. As people say, it's probably very cliche, but it would literally change my life [to have the surgery]."

Melissa is now crowdfunding for the surgery, which as per MailOnline costs £13,500.
