Forbidden romances - often the riveting, steamy plot to a Waterstones best-selling book. But when it comes to the case of a 53-year-old mother who last week tied the knot to her 22-year-old adopted son, we're understandably less on board...

Russian musician Aisylu Chizhevskaya Mingalim horrified child welfare experts when, on 20 October 2023, she wed her 22-year-old adopted son Daniel Chizhevsky.

The 'close-knit' couple exchanged vows in a ceremony at a restaurant in Kazan, Tatarstan Republic, Russia, last week. Daniel was adopted by his now-wife when he was just 14.

According to local media, the couple first met whilst he was temporarily residing in an orphanage the year prior, with Aisylu having offered to give the youngster singing lessons.

And Daniel has since taken the label of 'Mummy's boy' to a whole new level.

Now, Aisylu has revealed she feels forced to flee from their small hometown to the Russian capital of Moscow, after child welfare services seized her other five children.

She is the adopted mother to four little girls and one other boy, and is also the biological mother to a son from an earlier marriage.

Aisylu is reportedly fighting the authorities on the matter, after some of her children were placed back into care homes, whilst others were returned to their biological family members.

The marital union between the pair sparked controversy in the Republic of Tatarstan, with some sceptics calling Chizhevskaya-Mingalim a 'disgrace' to the country.

She insists her relationship with Daniel is perfectly legal and certainly consensual, despite her now-husband having come under her care when he was just a teenager and having raised him for the last eight years.

"Our relationship is perfect," Aisylu previously told press. "We can't live without each other. We are on the same wavelength."

Local media also reports that the doting wife first expressed an interest in becoming an adoptive mother after encountering orphans during a film project with a Tatarstan TV station.

She now plans to flee Tartarstan to set up a new life with her beau Daniel, who is a total of 31 years her junior.

Aisylu hopes to move with allow the couple - as well as her five other adopted children - to start a fresh in Moscow, 'where they can live freely'.
