Holidaymakers 'queue for 90 minutes' before mad sprint to claim sun loungers

This takes the sun lounger war to a whole new level...

Holidaymakers were filmed literally sprinting to snag a sun lounger after queuing 'for 90 minutes'.

The battle to reserve a sun lounger while on holiday in a prime location by the pool is no laughing matter. In fact, lots of sun-seekers take the whole process very seriously.

The same can be said for dozens of holidaymakers at a resort in Tenerife, who apparently woke up at the crack of dawn to get a sunbed in the best area.

The chaotic scenes captured in the video show hotel guests clutching their towels as they wait by the barrier close to the swimming pool.

Although it looks like they’re all waiting to be allowed inside the standing area at a stadium concert, the main event here is a prime location close to the pool, rather than Beyoncé. Each to their own, I guess.

As the guests are given the green light from staff, they’re let loose on the patio from all angles as the mad sprint begins.

The footage was shared by Chloe Turner on TikTok in August last year. But with the summer holidays fast approaching, it won’t be long until the sunbed wars start again in hot countries – if it hasn’t already.

The TikTok user claimed that people began queuing from 6.30am ahead of the pool’s opening time at 8.00am – that’s 90 minutes in total and an example of serious dedication!

The mad sprint garnered a mixed reaction on social media, with some viewers calling it ‘sad’ while others think it’s hilarious.

“How very sad!!” one TikTok user commented.

“OMG sad sad people,” someone else agreed.

“Would never go to the sort place ever,” another person mused.

“Can’t watch. I get second hand embarrassment,” a fourth viewer wrote.

“I thought this was footage of the Black Friday sales,” one social media user quipped.

“That’s not a relaxing holiday,” a commenter declared.

Earlier this week, a video emerged from a hotel in Majorca, where tourists were spotted doing the absolute most to get their butts on a sun lounger by booking one well in advance.

The sun lounger war was filmed by TikToker Gillian in August of last year. The jaw-dropping move left Gillian furious as she filmed it all unfolding at 7.00pm at night.

"It's 7 o'clock at night, and these people reserve their sunbeds for the whole week. They don't move them," she explained in her video.

Good luck to everyone trying to get a sun lounger this summer!
