Workers talking about how much they make from tips is everywhere on TikTok, from Domino's delivery drivers to restaurant workers.

Usually, it involves them explaining how much they make from them, with some earning very little while others earning more from tips than their actual salary.

However, this restaurant server claimed that she made 'such a good tip' after telling customers that she had children.

Here's what she had to say here:

The server, who goes by the name of Deirdre (@ddeirdreee), took to TikTok recently to discuss the 'hack', as she described it.

Deirdre explained that she works at a popular brunch spot in Los Angeles that attracts a lot of families with kids.

She then said how she got into a conversation with a family who had a group of kids that had made a bit of a mess, who apologised for their children's actions.

In the TikTok, Deirdre said: "For some reason, instead of saying my usual, ‘Oh, that’s OK, I’ll clean it up,’ I said, ‘That’s OK, I have little ones at home'."

The customers then asked Deirdre how old her kids were, to which she claimed that she had a two-year-old and a four-year-old.

The TikToker went on: "They are really cute, but they don't understand that they can't be pouring stuff all over the place."

Deirdre then said she was left 'such a good tip', and continued the story throughout the day as her 'tips were so much higher than they usually are'.

She concluded the video by saying: "For the record, I’m 22, and I do not have children."

The video has been viewed close to 50,000 times on TikTok, with many current and former servers also admitting to lying about having kids to gain more money through tips.

"When I was a server I lied and said I was a single mom, 2 kids, and a college student.. best tips ever," one person admitted.

A second added: "On Mother’s Day it’s ALWAYS my 'first' Mother’s Day and I can’t wait to go home and be with my baby."

And a third remarked: "I love being a server I play a different role every table."

Meanwhile, an actual mother claimed that you do get bigger tips if you have kids, saying: "So true I just came back from maternity leave and these tips are astronomical."

On the other hand, there were others that were not too impressed by this revelation.

One against the idea said: "I'm a server and hate the idea of lying and yelling advantage of peoples empathy to get tips."

And a second added: "Thank you! I will never trust a server anymore."

While another said: "People cheering on that but in the end its using people's kindness to your own advantage... lame."
