The mum of the biggest family in Britain has gotten candid about her traumatic first birth experience at 14, branding the whole thing as 'terrible'.

The 22 Kids and Counting star, Sue Radford, 49, opened up the 'horrendous' ordeal in her new book, The Radfords: Making Life Count.

While she has never forgotten the experience, Sue has since gone on to birth 21 other children, making her family the biggest in Britain.

Her husband Noel, 53, is the father of all of her kids, including the first who was born in 1989.

Speaking of the birth of her eldest, Christopher, Sue recalled the experience of being cut without enough numbness, and how 'terrible' it really felt.

She said: "I needed stitches and could feel the needle going in and the thread coming out.

"I can still hear the noises associated with it all.

"It was absolutely terrible."

Noel shared his recollection of the experience, where he said: "If anyone has ever cut through bacon rind with an old pair of scissors, it was like that - the noise.

"It was just awful."

Sue admitted that she thought she would never have another child after the pain she went through.

She said: "At that moment, I just thought, 'Right, that's it. I NEVER want to have any more children. I can't go through all this again'."

The childhood sweethearts are still raising several young children, with their youngest daughter, Heidi, having recently turned four.

Despite having the biggest family in Britain, the pair have made it clear that they have no plans to have any more children.

A new series of their hit show aired on Sunday (21 July), and fans witnessed the family facing a tough setback.

The family had put in an offer on their dream home in the countryside that was accepted, but among the celebrations came a shocking phone call that the sellers were taking the house off the market.

The news devastated the parents, as Sue told the cameras: "I'm not feeling like I want to talk about it."

It turns out that 19 of their 22 children still live in their family house, which is captured in the Channel 5 docu-series that has been on air since February 2021.
