One mum was left absolutely devastated after spending £200 on food for her daughter’s birthday party - only for no one to even bother coming.

The woman, Aaliyah, who goes by the handle @aaliyah_alena327 online, took to TikTok to share with her 60k followers exactly how she felt about all the no-shows after revealing her boyfriend was the only person to turn up.

Eager to make the important day a memorable and special occasion, the mum - who was wearing a 'Mummy of the Birthday Mermaid' top - clearly went all out to celebrate her little one's mermaid-themed birthday bash.

Take a look at the clip below:

Aaliyah began the viral TikTok filming herself smiling with the overlay text on the video reading: "How do you react when nobody shows up to your daughter's party?"

She then panned to a near-empty room decorated with balloons, posters and colourful streamers with her daughter sat in a pram in a lovely turquoise and purple mermaid-style dress.

"Except your BOYFRIEND," she added, while he walked around the empty room.

Aaliyah then added, while panning to several trays of food: "$225 worth of food My boyfriend's family is eating goood tonight!"

She captioned the post: "This is the support system I have for my daughter.

"Happy Birthday my lil mermaid!! Remember blood is no thicker than water."

The short clip has since gone viral after clocking up more than 3.6 million views on the platform, alongside thousands of comments from people eager to share their reactions to the heartbreaking situation.

One TikTok user penned: "That hurt my heart."

"I've never once not showed up to a party my daughter has been invited to. I actually can’t stand the thought of a child in this position!" hit out a second.

People were left 'heartbroken' over the situation.

A third viewer chimed in: "No one showed up to my 7th birthday party and I remember it 10 years later, I wish no one has to go through this ever."

Brb, just crying.

"When my kid is invited, we go. Even if it’s for an hour," admitted a fourth, while a fifth kindly offered: "Girl bye. Me and my babies would've been there, with gifts. Happy Birthday to your Princess!"

Another added: "I'm so sorry this happened. I hope she still enjoyed her day with you!"

A final TikTok user echoed: "This broke my heart, Happy Birthday princess. I would’ve came to her party!"
