Parents discover hidden feature in car seats that makes strapping kids in much easier

Getting the kids into car seats is notoriously tricky, thanks to all those pesky straps and clips

Over the years, it feels as though car seats have become increasingly tricky to master. Just when you think you've got it, you realise a leg's hanging out or that something's in the way of the door closing.

Well, get ready to make your life infinitely easier with a hidden feature that makes strapping kids in an absolute doddle.

One dad took to TikTok to share the life-changing hack that is sure to save you a whole lot of hassle when it next comes to strapping your tot into their car seat.

The hack effectively revolves around the car seat's straps, with the dad explaining how to get them out the way once and for all.

The dad, who goes by the handle @heavy_haul_n_fool, shared the hack with his 1.3 million followers.

He started by introducing the tip: "I am going to show you guys something I bet you did not know."

After giving curious parents a step-by-step demonstration of how to free up the straps he says: "But now you can go and set your child in and the straps go around their arms."

You see, some car seats come fitted with two extremely handy plastic hooks located at the side of the chair which are perfect to wrap the straps around.

Doing so effectively frees up unrestricted access to the seating area - allowing parents to more seamlessly place their kid in the car seat without having to deal with those pesky straps that seem to always get in the way.

Once the child is comfortably seated, parents can then put the straps around their arms and fasten the buckle nice and snug, and voila!

And that's not the only nugget of wisdom surrounding car seats that's out there.

One mum and paramedic recently took to social media to warn about the potential danger of letting a child wear a big jacket in a car seat.

Nikki from the Instagram page 'Tiny Hearts Education' warned parents: "No bulky jackets in the car."

She explained: "As you can see here, this jacket compresses and the child comes flying out.

"I did a demonstration here of putting Wolfie in his, doing up the straps for you, making sure that i checked and tightened him like I normally would."

Nikki then removes the jacket from her son - not touching the straps or readjusting them.

"[It] shows you just how much space that jacket was actually taking up," she explains.

The space results in the seatbelt no longer passing the pinch test.

Nikki reminds: "Remember any bulky jackets will compress and your child would not be safe."
