One new dad seems to have angered the entire internet after making a 'demeaning' joke about his partner while she was in labour.

The people of Reddit were furious after learning about a couple who welcomed their first child, but had the magical experience ruined by a hurtful comment.

After kicking her husband out of the delivery room, the new mum detailed her experience on Reddit's popular r/AmITheA**hole page to see if she had taken things too far.

In the post, she explained all was going well in the delivery room at first.

"I was in a lot of pain, but he was really supportive," she wrote.

"The midwife was asking us questions about the baby etc in between contractions just to help me ease my mind a little."

But when the midwife asked the couple if they were excited for the pregnancy to be over and done with, things went south.

She wrote: "I said that yes, because it's been hard for me. My husband snorted and said "'or me too, she was so difficult.'

"Midwife tried to change the subject, but I asked my husband what the f he means by that, and he said that he is happy it's over and he will get his wife back and 'the hormonal mess is over.'"

Shocked and hurt by her husband's comments, the mum-to-be asked him to leave the room.

"He said he's not going anywhere, because his child is being born here. I yelled at him to get the f out and he was pissed off, called me an AH for making him miss his kids birth and stormed off.

"He hasn't been back to see our daughter, he is supposed to come later today."

The vast majority of Redditors quickly assured the new mum that she was not being an 'a**hole'

One user commented: "OP's husband must not know anything about women's bodies after giving birth. The 'hormonal mess' won't be over for QUITE a while. He'll need to buckle up for the ride or get outta there permanently."

A second pointed out: "The delivery room is not the time for jokes at the labouring woman's expense."

In disbelief over the husband's behaviour, a third wrote: "If it means that much to him, he could have behaved himself like a supportive partner and kept his stupid, insulting and demeaning jokes to himself.

"Pregnancy is hard and any man who can't give his wife the respect she deserves for what she has done shouldn't be in the delivery room."

People agreed that the husband was in the wrong in this instance.

A fourth horrified Reddit user added: "He said what now? I was with my wife for all our deliveries and everything she needed, she got. Your dude is on thin ice."

And a fifth said: "You just grew a human! You just birthed a human! He had an orgasm and held your hand. In no way are those comparable efforts.

"He said something cruel, inexcusable, and wrong. He has a lot of apologising and behaviour change ahead. Insist on counselling, because that was an awful thing to say!"

We're quite certain this dad won't make that mistake again!
