Mum divides opinion after sharing four 'weird’ rules she has for her six children

People were divided over the mum's very specific rules

TikTokers have been left divided after one mum revealed the four rules she has for all six of her children.

You can watch the clip below:

TikToker @sharon.a.life took to the video streaming platform where she shared a clip explaining her four rules.

She said: “Four weird rules we have for our six kids:

“No playing with friends on Sunday. Two years of piano classes minimum.

“No homework until you’re in junior high. No singing at the dinner table.”

She then added: “We had the rules when I was a kid and I didn’t understand it until I had kids”.

In a separate follow up video, Sharon explained the thought process behind the four rules, specifically her preference for the kids to learn piano.

She explained: "So my kids have to do two years of piano in elementary school and the reason why piano and not just whatever they want - that’s a practicality issue.

“We live on a very tight budget, we already have a piano, we already have a piano teacher, piano teachers usually charge less than other instruments and piano teachers normally charge less than other instruments.

“She lives really close so the kids get to walk there and walk back.

“Piano also teaches the basics, so after two years, they can choose to do something different and at that point, since they’ve already learned to practice regularly and notes and rhythms and beats and stuff, I’m willing to invest in a different instrument or skill, like singing.

“Music and art are so important and it’s something that's definitely being taken out of our public school system, so my husband and I are really big on implementing that and exposing our children to that at an early age so they can carry that throughout the rest of their lives”.

TikTok users had a lot of thoughts on the rules, with many divided while others had similar rules.

"I love your rules they don’t seem weird to me. I may have to implement a few of them," said one.

While another wrote: "I can understand the no friends on Sunday thing if you do a lot of activities as a family, not if they just lay on the couch and do nothing all day."

Others didn't agree however, with one adding: "What's with the no singing at the table rule? My mother in law said this but I literally sing always so that was hard lol."

And another said: "That’s so odd."

What do you think of the rules?
