People Baffled By Club's Shoe Entry Requirements

Why is this rule still a thing?

One group of friends nearly found their night out ruined by a club’s strict dress code – until some quick thinking saw them gain entry.

Taking to TikTok, @rachsilvester shared the sneaky trick that her and her group of friends allowed into the Manchester nightclub, and it really is genius.

You can watch the video below.

Naturally @rachsilvester and her pals’ antics in order to go dancing has impressed the good people of TikTok, with the video quickly racking up 4.4 million views and thousands comments with many people praising their ‘hack’.

“Genius,” wrote one impressed viewer, while a second laughed: “As if this worked!”

“Omg how does this rule still exist past 2007?” a third person asked, and a fourth concurred: “Fab hack!”

Some people were just baffled that wearing white trainers was still considered such a big no-no.

"Sorry this is ridiculous," one person said. "I can’t believe the colour of your trainers now determines your entry to a club."

"Why can't you wear white trainers to a club?" a second person asked, and a third quizzed: "Can someone genuinely explain what is wrong with white trainers?"

Other long-time ravers joked the TikTok video was simply a continuation of an age-old trend to swerve dress code rules.

“We use to do this in the 90s all the time,” one person said. “Club straight from work we did all sorts lol.”

“This is an old skool trick, any type of trainers were never allowed back in the day!” a second agreed.

One quick-thinking friend had an idea (

“Did this roughly about 20 years ago. Glad to see it still works,” said a third, as a fourth said: “Legend move, did this 10 years ago and was shocked it worked.”

And another commenter referenced a now legendary moment from teen comedy The Inbetweeners, writing: “Should have found a homeless person to swap with.”

In other TikTok news, if you’re actually allowed to wear your white trainers to the club, there’s a way to get any creases or marks out of them, with very little fuss.

TikTok creator @tanyahomeinspo thrilled viewers after she guaranteed that the hack would remove all creases from your shoes.
