A man with ‘one of the worst cases of psoriasis ever seen’ has shown off the incredible results of treatment, following years of suffering.

Johnnie, who lives in Tallahassee, Florida, had psoriasis from head to toe, which left his cracking skin feeling constantly dry and itchy.

The chronic disease causes flaky patches of skin, which form scales – usually on elbows, knees, scalp and lower back, but these can appear anywhere on the body.

Johnnie, 62, said the condition started with a pimple on his head back in 2002.

“I busted it, and some green stuff came out of it,” he said in a recent episode of TLC’s Dr. Pimple Popper.

“And it kind of scared me, so I went to see a nurse about it and she gave me a bottle of holy water... That didn’t work!”

Johnnie's condition started 20 years ago.

Johnnie eventually went to see a dermatologist in 2017, and received the diagnosis that he had psoriasis.

But even after being given cream, he still found nothing seemed to help ease the intense itching.

He ended up meeting Dr Sandra Lee, who said in the episode: “This is one of the worst cases of psoriasis that I have ever seen.

“I mean, he’s got plaques as white as snow.

“Johnnie did have a spot on his forehead that he thought was the start of this psorisis. It may have been the start of psoriasis, or it might have just been a plain old pimple. But I’m going to have to take a close look to know for sure.”

Dr Lee gave Johnnie an injection.

Dr Lee said Johnnie’s condition looked like ‘plaque psoriasis’, acknowledging that, while it wasn’t life-threatening or contagious, it can really affect someone’s well-being.

She gave Johnnie special injections that help ‘calm down the T-cell system’, showing him how he could self-administer these in the future as ongoing treatment.

Eight weeks later, Johnnie praised Dr Lee for giving him the ‘real magic potion’, saying his skin looked ‘great’.

“It feels almost like regular skin now, compared to [when] it used to feel like concrete,” he said, adding: “I really feel like I can move and dance!”

Johnnie was over the moon.

His 12-year-old daughter, Angela, said her father looked like a ‘different man’, telling him: “You look good!”

“My dad’s skin looks better and he doesn’t have to scratch. It’s nice to know he doesn’t have to go through that pain anymore.

“I feel like he knows that he’s a new person.”
