Chill guys, it's not shutting FOREVER.

Since McDonald's announced the news that all its restaurants in the UK and Ireland were to close amid the coronavirus pandemic, people are now literally queuing for miles to grab a Maccies before they miss their chance.

For many, McDonald's is a love that could never be rivalled, so it comes as no surprise that people have now turned their stockpiling attentions to the fast food restaurant, following the yesterday's news that all its restaurants would be closed by 7pm tonight.

The British public have been queueing across the country to make sure they get their last ever box of nugs or opportunity to enjoy a Big Mac for the foreseeable future. It's literal madness.

Not that we're heavily judging - the prospect of living without nuggets (for potentially months!) is pretty damn devastating. But let's be honest guys, staying home is the only guaranteed way to stay safe so we all need to remember that and stop leaving the house.

According to social media, the queues have been outrageous, with one even spilling out onto a dual carriageway.

"My local #McDonalds that's a duel carriage way they queueing out onto #COVID19 #Ireland !! Madness," wrote one person on social media.

Another added: "Seen it all now. With all the traffic outside my local McDonalds it seems people are panic buying big macs."

A third posted a picture of cars and said: "Omfg the queue to McDonald's we are gonny miss u x"

Another chimed in: "#McDonalds at least #Tesco might be empty... every panicked person is now at McDonalds #COVID19".

Lastly, one commented along with a snap: "The queue for McDonald's.. as it's shutting tonight .. f**king [sic] hell".

The hefty lines of cars were no doubt increased by the chain announcing it would offer free food and drink to all NHS and emergency workers before it closed, on sight of an ID card.

McDonald's had previously made the decision to close the seating areas of its restaurants (opening only for drive thru and takeaway) but following the latest government advice, decided to close completely this evening.

Paul Pomroy, chief executive officer at McDonald's UK and Ireland said yesterday: "Over the last 24 hours, it has become clear that maintaining safe social distancing whilst operating busy takeaway and Drive Thru restaurants is increasingly difficult and therefore we have taken the decision to close every restaurant in the UK and Ireland by 7pm on Monday 23rd March."

It's a ridiculous but hilarious reaction to the news that McDonald's is closing (

With the closures coming, people have been making hilarious odes to their McDonald's grub on social media.

One posted a video of a restaurant to the soundtrack of 'Goodbye' by Spice Girls, with the caption: "Just want her back ".

Another posted a picture of a Big Mac adding the caption: "Farewell my friend...until we meet again".

Another said with a crying emoji: "My last Big Mac I'll see you soon my love".

Slightly dramatic, but come on, we all need a LOL at a worrying time like this.
