Just when you're secure in the knowledge that you know something as simple as how to close a box of Cheerios, someone comes along and explains that actually, you've been doing it wrong this whole time.
Taking to TikTok, one woman named Katy Bee, explained to her followers how she keeps her cereal fresh - and we can't believe we've never tried this.

When it comes to storing cereal, most of us fall into one of two categories. We either close the box 'properly' - doing our best not to rip the cardboard when opening, folding the plastic packaging several times over and slotting the tabs together.
Then there's the other type, those who come along like a hurricane and rip open the box, leaving the plastic gaping open and the cardboard tabs damaged beyond salvation. Living with one of these types can be a struggle...
However, it really doesn't matter anymore because now, there's a new and improved way to close your cereal and if you want to keep it as fresh as possible, you best take note.

Posting a video of the trick on TikTok, Katy can be seen opening the cereal box before pressing down the side tabs as well as the front tab *into* the box.
Next, she folds the two small side tabs inwards, to make a V shape on either side. She then pushes the front and back tabs together and tucks the tab furthest away inside the box. Get it?
"That is how you close your cereal!" Katy can be heard saying in the video.

Just wow.
And ever since the video was posted, others have been trying out the trick themselves.

One wrote: "I use a container specifically for cereal, but this blew my mind!"
