A man who is often stopped in the street by strangers due to his uncanny likeness to Elon Musk isn't particularly thrilled by the comparison.

Hugo One, 28, is a disco-soul singer from Luxembourg, however, to those he encounters out and about, he's the SpaceX CEO's doppelgänger.

He was first made aware of this in 2018 when he was an English and French teacher in Germany, where a student mentioned it.

Because of his likeness to Musk, however, things like shopping, drinking at bars, queuing at nightclubs and so on often end up being a bit more difficult than normal.

At one point, the 28-year-old was in Aberdeen, Scotland for a reunion night out with mates, when a group of lads passing by shouted at him: “You’re Elon Musk.”

Hugo decided to film the moment, which saw the strangers unable to 'believe' that he wasn’t Musk, but sometimes it’s more than just words that people say, as he said that a a ‘few brave souls’ will also ask for a picture with him.

Now, it might be fun to look like a celebrity, but for Hugo, it’s not the same, as he says being compared to Musk is ‘not a compliment’.

Adding that they were the 'fifth group of people' who'd stopped him that night, Hugo continued: "I don't take it as a compliment to be compared to Elon because he's not a nice person.

"He's also not at all good looking. But I took it as a laugh because they were a nice friendly group of lads."

"At this point, I was tired, and it had already happened four times before," he said. "But I took it in jest because you have to see the funny side."

On 25 April, he decided to post the video onto his social media, which he thought would get 'fair few views'. However, it ended up receiving over 1.5 million views instead.

"On Saturday, I woke up and it had 70,000 views and now it has over 1.5 million." Hugo said, adding that 'it's created some great traffic to my page and people are downloading my songs'.

Despite the 'unwanted attention' he receives due to his looks, Hugo 'still likes' his appearance, and he also doesn't mind the comparison 'as long as people know I don't align with Elon or his beliefs'.

Even though he doesn’t think Musk is a 'nice person' nor share his beliefs, he says he luckily hasn’t received any abuse because of his similar look.
