Doctor makes X-rated suggestion for a good night's sleep that can help one certain generation

Dr Terry Simpson has the perfect cure for Gen X and their lack of sleep

Being unable to sleep is probably one of the worst gripes most people have, and it completely ruins your day, but one doctor thinks he has the cure.

That’s right, but he’s focusing on Gen X here, so if you’re a Boomer, Alpha, Z or Cusper, look elsewhere.

Okay, I’m joking, but this is apparently very specific to Gen X’s inability to get a good night’s rest most of the time.

Dr Terry Simpson, a Boomer surgeon in California, has shared tips for Gen Xers who want to have better sleep once and for all - and one of those suggestions is pretty X-rated.

Dr Simpson took to TikTok, where he explained to his viewers how to get a night of good kip.

He said: “Gen Xers, you’re old. You know what happens when you get old? It gets harder to sleep.”

According to a survey by Saatva, Gen X gets the least amount of sleep out of all generations, with 18 per cent of people sleeping five hours or fewer every night.

Ouch.

Compare that to 85 per cent of Millennials getting the most sleep of six or more hours, it’s pretty obvious that there’s a disparity.

But Dr Simpson’s tips could take you from being Gen X to Gen Zzz.

He shared: “If you’re up at night thinking you’re too hot and you can’t sleep comfortably, maybe it’s time to get a real mattress instead of those mattresses that [the kids] get.”

Then, he moved on to your diet as he explained how protein and fibre are key to good sleep.

“If you’re hungry at night, you’re gonna wake up and you’re gonna wanna eat,” Dr Simpson shared.

“So that whole diet plan you had is gonna go out the window because at night what’s available? Ice cream. So why don’t you have a nice meal before you go to bed?”

This is because protein takes longer to digest than other nutrients, so it makes you feel fuller for longer.

But it was his last tip that people focused on, and you can’t really blame them.

According to the doc, a good old orgasm is the best way to drift off to sleep.

He said: "Having an orgasm actually relaxes you, makes you feel better and just allows you to have that wonderful sleep.”

“You are not going to sleep if you are sexually frustrated,” Dr Simpson explained.

“You’re just not. Having an orgasm actually relaxes you, makes you feel better and just allows you to have that wonderful sleep.”

Well, he’s actually right.

A 2023 Healio survey found that 75 per cent of adults with insomnia slept better after a nighttime sex session.

Dr Douglas Kirsch, lead study author and medical director of sleep medicine at Atrium Health said at the time of its release, as per the New York Post: “Little scientific data exists around the impact of sex and orgasm on sleep quality.

“While this data is quite preliminary, it was interesting how often sex was used to aid in sleep.”

Dr Simpson added: “Let me tell you — you need to either have a very willing partner or you just need to take matters into your own hand.

“Because, remember, sleep’s important. If you sleep better, you’ll feel better, you’ll wake up better.”
