TikTok viewers can't decide whether to laugh or cry after watching a video of a grandma with dementia singing the only song she remembers.

Grandma Ruby has her own TikTok account where content is uploaded of her life to over 14,000 followers on the popular social media platform.

In a video posted to the account on 30 November, Ruby's grandchild records her jamming out to the iconic song Who Let the Dogs Out by Baha Men.

The clip has gone viral on TikTok, with over 12 million views and 2.5 million likes.

Over the video, text reading 'when my grandma has dementia and this is the only song she remembers' appears alongside a cheeky caption of 'I believe she was the one to let the dogs out' in the video description.

The video was obviously intended for comedic purposes, as the creator hashtagged the video with the word funny.

But some people in the comment section have admitted to feeling sad after watching the video, with many linking it to their own experiences of dementia in their family.

According to the NHS, dementia is a group of related symptoms associated with an ongoing decline of brain functioning.

Symptoms of the disease may include problems with memory loss, thinking speed, mental sharpness and quickness language, such as using words incorrectly, or trouble speaking, understanding, judgement, mood, movement and difficulties doing daily activities.

While there is no cure for dementia, new ways to treat the disease and slow down its progress are being researched all the time.
