You can buy a Slush Puppie Machine to keep cool during the heatwave

Move over Aperol, move over Pimms, because you can buy your own Slush Puppie machine and be transported back to your childhood this summer.

It's time to move over Aperol and Pimms, because you can now buy your own Slush Puppie machine and be transported back to your childhood this summer.

When you were younger, you knew it was a good day when your parents bought you a Slush Puppie.

The delicious, icy nectar drink would leave us bouncing off the walls and would be the perfect accompaniment to a mid-summer day as your mum dragged you around a shopping centre.

Remember that refreshing feeling?! Well you don't have to anymore - neither do you have to tell yourself it's a one-off treat when you go to the cinema - as you can now buy your very own Slush Puppie machine off Amazon.

This will sit quite nicely in our kitchen next to our blender (

Sure, we might struggle to rationalise buying a slushy maker as an adult in a cost of living crisis, but if you think about how much money it'll save you making them at home rather than buying them elsewhere - well, we haven't done the maths, but let's just keep telling ourselves it must be worth it.

With the UK having finally been blessed with some warmer weather - even if it's perhaps 'too hot' as us Brits like to complain - there's never been a better excuse to do some cheeky internet shopping.

The nostalgic piece of kit - by the original flavoured ice drink brand - also comes with blue raspberry and red cherry syrup depending on whether you prefer a lurid blue or red tongue. Ah, memories...

You'll also get branded Slush Puppie straws and cups, so you'll be transported back a 90s shopping centre or cinema in an instant.

To use it, you simply add ice into the top of the machine, add your syrup (or both if you're a maverick for a funky purple concoction) and let it do the rest of the work.

The Slush Puppie Slushie Machine Set costs £56.99 on Amazon if you buy it via the Fizz Creations' store and - not that you should need more convincing - has an impressive 4.4 star rating from 908 customer reviews.

If you're more of a do-it-yourself kind of person, we've also learnt about a way to make your own Tango Ice Blasts (AKA the modern day Slush Puppie equivalent) at home.

Posted by @caughtsnackin - the king of indulgent lockdown cooks - on TikTok, the recipe requires just a few ice lollies, some food colouring, some Tango and a blender.

You can read about how to make them here or watch the video:

Either way, we'll be drinking slushies all summer long...
