Nando's fans are flocking to social media in excitement after the restaurant chain teased a new menu item.

Whether it's a Friday night and you're wondering where to take your date, or it's midday Saturday and you're feeling slightly worse for wear from the night before, there's one restaurant that's always got you covered: Nando's.

From a cheeky medium-spiced fino pitta - if you get lemon and herb, we're judging you - to a sunset burger or playing a game of wing roulette, the chain is a firm favourite among many for a reason.

But what's one item which has been missing from the menu and highly sought after by Nando's fans?

It's the news we've all been waiting for - or if you haven't been waiting for it, it's the news you didn't know you so desperately needed.

You may be more than satisfied with your main and two sides whenever you visit your local Nando's but its upcoming menu item is the cherry on the cake - or the PERi-PERi sauce on the chicken so to say.

But what is this exciting new item Nando's is teasing our tastebuds with?

Nando's teased fans with a video of four chilli peppers 'loading...,' leading to a quick flash of an image of the new item.

The caption reads: "F_ _I_L_ _ _ed C_ _ _ _"

And it's hardly rocket science to figure out.

The snapshot image shows what appears to be chips, some spring onion and what must be one of Nando's iconic sauces.

Yes, indeed, Nando's is expected to release some 'Fully Loaded Chips' - unless the chain is playing a delayed April Fools that is.

And it hasn't taken long for excitement to build online.

The new item is set to arrive on 6 June.

Flocking to the chain's semi-announcement, fans of the restaurant are thrilled with the news of the upcoming menu item.

One wrote: "[Tag] nandos date soon? I wanna try these x."

"This is gonna be the best day ever," another said.

A third commented: "There’s gotta be a rule that one person can’t eat all the fully loaded ones."

However, other social media users took the opportunity to question why Nando's isn't bringing back some of its other items which it previously released, but later took off the menu.

A Twitter user wrote: "That doesn't spell RED PEPPER DIP though does it?!?"

"Just bring back the caesar salad," an Instagram user added.

Another said: "NO we want the carrot cake BACK."

Little do some people remember, but loaded fries have actually been advertised by Nando's before too.

'Cheesy Festa Fries' was posted in 2019 and rumours swirled of a 'secret menu item' of 'loaded chips' in Australia (but not the UK) as well.

A final social media user simply resolved: "Whatever it is will be leng cus its nandos ofc."

So, add the date to your diary quick if you're a Nando's and chips fan - how could you not be - because the 'Fully Loaded Chips' are set for release in only a matter of days on 6 June.
