Claire is a journalist at Tyla who, after dossing around for a few years, went to Liverpool John Moores University. She graduated with a degree in Journalism and a whole load of debt. When not writing words in exchange for money she is usually at home watching serial killer documentaries surrounded by cats.

Mrs Hinch asked ‘What have I been doing all my life?’ as she discovered a simple Happy Meal trick that helps cut down on washing up.

Sophie Hinchcliffe, better known as Mrs Hinch on her social media channels, is no stranger to a life-hack, but it seems she was completely unaware of this one. Check it out:

In a clip shared to her Instagram page, the 32-year-old showed her tearing a hidden middle strip off a McDonald’s Happy Meal box, dividing the box into two to reveal the burger, fries and toy inside.

She then simply emptied out the fries and placed the burger into the bottom part of the box, creating a make-shift tray to hold her kids’ food, which of course meant she didn’t need to bother with a plate. Clever, eh?

Mrs Hinch certainly seemed to think so, anyway - in the clip, she can be heard saying: "Yep, I was today years old when I realised that you could do this.

"What have I been doing all my life? I have no idea, but I can promise you now, this has changed my life forever.”

Captioning the video, the mum-of-two wrote: "WHHHAATTT! Please tell me I’m not alone here? Did anyone else not know this? why am I always late to the party. Use this audio and share a hack you’ve discovered! No this is not sponsored by McDonald’s in anyway (I wish it was) ATB [all the best]!!”

And it turns out she wasn’t alone in having no idea that you could open the Happy Meal boxes in such a way.

YouTuber Zoe Sugg responded: "I also DID NOT KNOW THIS!! X"

Someone else commented: “Wow. Wilby’s staple diet and I did not know that. He will be well impressed when I pull that one out the bag later.”

It turns out it wasn't just Mrs Hinch who didn't know about this trick.

A third person said: “Oh my God how did you not know this. You know about pouring your chips into the top part of your burger box though yes?”

While another person commented: “Whaaaat!! Never knew that! That’s gotta be a new thing.”

Even the official McDonald’s Instagram account got involved, writing: “Bonus: the kids think you’re some kind of magician.”

After discovering that it wasn’t just her who was in the dark about the trick, Mrs Hinch wrote: "Omggg yaaaay I’m not alone. Why haven’t I done this before now."

Well, I think I need to go to McDonald’s immediately for research purposes, obviously.
