Many of us are always on the lookout for new and interesting ways to use our air fryer, as there are often tricks that go far beyond crisping up some chicken.

Some people, however, remain slightly unconvinced by the gadget, curious to know whether it’s nothing more than a small oven.

Sure, we’re often told they’re usually cheaper to run than a conventional cooker, or make it easier to get food crispier thanks to their high temperatures.

But are they as much as a solution for our modern lives as some die-hard fans make out?

One ‘secret’ hack has left people divided for this very reason: one on the one hand, it’s something that fixes a common issue; on the other, it just adds another stage that surely shouldn’t be needed in the first place.

Taking to Reddit to discuss the trick, which they’d seen on TikTok, one user wrote: “My fries are always cold and soggy after ordering McDonald's from UberEATS and I usually throw them away but I saw this hack on TikTok where they chuck them in the air fryer for a few minutes and the come out like there fresh out the fryer. I tried it and it’s true, try it if you're cool.”

Many others agreed it was a bit of a brainwave, with one admitting it was something they swore by: “I actually use an air fryer on fresh KFC some times just to turn it from soggy to crispy. That's my secret kfc hack.”

A third agreed: “I’ll attest to the air fryer’s ability to resurrect cold takeaways. I loathe cold chips, but the air fryer made them edible again. It also did wonders to a leftover piece of battered fish. I heart my air fryer.”

But others remained dubious, pointing out that the oven was ‘just as good’, and that reheating food was hardly anything new.

Some also didn’t understand why you’d settle for such a hack, with one saying: “Imagine paying Uber eats prices just to cook them yourself...”

Someone else asked: “At this point why order mcdonalds at all?”

Another argued: “Now hear me out: Just buy McCain shoestrings and don’t go to McDonald’s at all.”

A fourth also commented: “It’s a hack now just to reheat food? This dumb af.”
