Terrifying Halloween attraction at Universal leaves guest shocked over one non-existent rule

The Halloween attraction at Universal Orlando is a must-visit for horror lovers

Halloween Horror Nights 33 is in full swing at Universal Orlando Resort, but there's one unwritten role that left me shocked.

Fans of all things spooky will know all about the popular Halloween event, and it's back better than ever for 2024.

This time around, Universal is putting on a whopping 48 dates for fans to enjoy if they dare.

The 33rd edition of the scare fest features ten new houses based on iconic films with the likes of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, A Quiet Place, Insidious: The Further and Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines all included.

All of these houses feature actors carefully chosen by those at Universal.

Speaking to Tyla moments before Halloween Horror Nights opened in August, Lora Sauls, Assistant Director of Creative Development and Show Direction for Art and Design, Entertainment at Universal Orlando Resort, said: "We cast our scare actors, as we call them, in April, and the casting process goes through until after the event open.

"I think our fans absolutely love it [the houses and scare zones] and they fall into laughter after the scare."

After experiencing Halloween Horror Nights firsthand, I can say some of the houses are quite frankly terrifying.

The Insidious house is one that instantly comes to mind when it comes to horror, truly making guests jump out of their skin as they turn every corner.

The movie has a 15 age rating attached to it in the UK, so you'd think the house would have some kind of limit attached to it at Universal.

Well, that's surprisingly not the case, with Universal instead offering a disclaimer that the attraction may be 'too intense for young children'.

The Florida resort recommends children under the age of 13 should not attend Horror Nights, but that's not a rule enforced by the park.

Instead, it's really up to parents/guardians to make their own decision on whether the event is suitable.

And with how frightening parts of Halloween Horror Nights are, this unwritten rule certainly surprised me.

Speaking to press including Tyla on Halloween Horrors Night 33 opening night, Lora said: "We have 48 select nights for Halloween Horrors Night this year to share in your screams and fears.

"This year we are celebrating 33 years and in those years the Universal Orlando creative group has created over 200 haunted houses. This year we are adding ten terrifying haunted houses to that collection. These ten come from amazing horror movie franchises."
