Warning: This article contains discussion of domestic violence which some readers may find distressing

Netflix subscribers have all come to the same conclusion after watching a jaw-dropping true crime docuseries.

A new four-part streaming project is chronicling the heartbreaking violence and manipulation various women and men have suffered at the hands of their former romantic partners.

From the creators of Worst Roommate Ever, the show details the lives of domestic abuse survivors while documenting first-hand accounts from affected families and various investigators close to the cases. Check out the trailer below:

Like its parent programme, Worst Ex Ever has been commissioned in partnership with Blumhouse Television and sees director Cynthia Childs stepping into the driving seat.

The Netflix anthology programme documents a different, chilling story in each episode - the first being the case of Benjamin Foster, a man who had a history of violence against women.

In the initial instalment, viewers become acquainted with victims of Foster including Justine Siemens.

The bartender, who was left with a life-altering brain injury after being beaten by the man, claimed during the programme: “Torture is an understatement for what I went through.”

Subsequent episodes focus on identity fraud, a family put in grave danger by a scorned ex-wife and a husband who turned to murder after losing custody of his three children.

Keep in mind though that there were two years between series one and two of Worst Roommate Ever.

So, if another instalment is on the horizon, you may have to wait a little bit longer than you’d probably like.

Worst Ex Ever is available to stream on Netflix now.
