Wolf of Wall Street fans shocked after Jordan Belfort’s ex wife reveals scene actually happened in real life

The real Naomi from The Wolf of Wall Street spoke out about the scene

Fans are shocked after the real ex-wife of Jordan Belfort revealed that one infamous scene really happened during their relationship.

It's easy to forget that The Wolf of Wall Street is based on a true story, involving real people, in a real relationship.

The chaos of the story can make you feel exhausted just watching it, but Nadine Macaluso, Belfort's ex-wife who was portrayed by Margot Robbie, has revealed that one infamous scene happened in real life too.

Not only this, but she noted that her ex-husband used the 'ultimate form' of 'gaslighting' to make her question gut instincts.

She addressed what happened when she confronted Belfort about him cheating on her, which he of course rebutted.

In the film, the Duchess wakes Belfort up by splashing water in his face.

If you forgot the infamous line, here's a small reminder: "Wake up you piece of s***, who's Venice?"

She then mocks him by suggesting he sounds like an owl, after he repeatedly questioned 'who' she was talking about.

Naomi claimed that the wealthy businessman had been calling her name in his sleep, but Nadine said this very situation occurred in real life too.

Taking to Instagram, she shared a video reflecting on how she felt at the time.

She said: "Oh my god, so that whole entire experience of someone cheating on you, and then when you confront them about that as I did in the movie, and they deny it!

"Not only do they deny it, but they make you out to be the crazy person.

"They say 'oh my god it was Venice in Italy', no it wasn't Venice in Italy, and that is the ultimate form of gaslighting."

Fans were completely shocked that the scenario happened in real life.

One said: "Omg so this really happened? Holy moly, you are a strong woman."

Another added: "Did he really talk to you like that though?"

Nadine advised those in similar relationships not to 'fall for it', as people left their experiences with gaslighting in the comments.

One said: "When I would confront my ex about cheating (which all turned out to be true) he would turn it around on me and accuse me of cheating and then convince me I am just insecure."

Another said: "I’ve been there and through my experience, want to help others see they’re NOT crazy.

"Thank you for validating others."
