Sadie Sink’s secret role in new Spider-Man: Brand New Day has finally been revealed

This weekend, there’s no doubt that thousands of Marvel fans will be rushing to cinemas to see the fourth Spider-Man movie of Tom Holland’s franchise.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day, starring the 30-year-old British actor and his wife Zendaya, 29, dropped in the UK on Wednesday (29 July).

It follows Peter Parker living in isolated anonymity after the memory-erasing spell of the 2021 movie No Way Home, throwing himself into full superhero mode and crime-fighting.

He investigates a powerful new threat; meanwhile, his powers undergo a surprising and potentially dangerous evolution.

As well as looking forward to seeing the returning characters, fans have been dying to know what Sadie Sink’s role in the movie is, ever since it was revealed that the 24-year-old Stranger Things actress was cast in a significant role in March.

However, while it was confirmed that she was in the film, her exact role was kept completely hush-hush, and she was barely in the trailers, leading to mass speculation.

Now, it’s finally been revealed - and be warned, if you haven’t watched it yet, you might want to stop scrolling now, as spoilers are ahead.

As many movie lovers predicted, Sadie Sink is playing the comic book and Marvel Universe Jean Gray - a founding member of the X-Men and a mutant with powerful telepathic and telekinetic abilities.

The big reveal doesn’t take place until over an hour into the movie, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats.

In the movie, Spider-Man starts investigating a new villain in New York City who has the power to possess bystanders’ bodies when they're close to her.

She attempts to break into the headquarters for the Department of Damage Control - the organization that’s responsible for cleaning up messes after superhero battles.

Ever since the movie’s release, fans have been reacting to the big reveal online, with one person writing on X: “The way Sadie Sink portrayed her character…. Top f***ing tier. The story they gave her too? Everybody in my cinema gasped.”

A second penned: “SADIE SINK AS JEAN GREY WHAT A PERFECT CAST.”

And a third agreed: “Sadie Sink absolutely steals Brand New Day for me. She gives such a raw performance and feels like the most natural inclusion ever.

“The way her journey mirrors Peter's is handled so well, her future in the MCU is BRIGHT.”

The praise continued, with a fourth fan writing: “Sadie Sink is genuinely the best casting in the last 5-7 years for Marvel without a doubt…”
