ITV confirms new hosts for This Morning to replace Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield

ITV has confirmed the two new hosts who will replace Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on This Morning.

Holly announcedshe was stepping down as a regular host on the show in October last year, saying that she’d made the decision for her and her family.

The bombshell news came after it was revealed that Holly was set to go on 'indefinite leave' from This Morning following an alleged plot to kidnap her.

Schofield left the show earlier in the year, having admitted to having an ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair with a younger male colleague while still married to his wife.

ITV said Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley would now be stepping in as the new presenting duo.

Ben, who has been a fixture on Good Morning Britain, said: “This really feels like a very special moment for Cat and I to be part of the next chapter of This Morning. It’s an honour to be trusted with the reins, join Alison and Dermot and all the team that work on and off screen and do such a great job.

“For the last 10 years I’ve been waking up with our ITV daytime audience on GMB and I now look forward to spending time with Cat, welcoming the viewers home after the school run or from their early morning routines, with a cup of tea and a mix of everything that makes This Morning so loved.”

Cat said: “This Morning is a national institution. Whenever it’s on, it’s like having your friends over – funny, smart, silly, heartfelt, informative and joyful – like all the greatest friendships!

“This Morning is and always will be the viewer’s show. Ben and I both know how much people love it, and with the help of an amazing team of people, we’re going to do our best to take care of it.”

A video announcing the news was posted on the show's official Instagram, with the caption: "It’s official! Say hello to our new #ThisMorning presenters!

Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond, who host This Morning on Fridays, were among the first stars to congratulate their new colleagues, who will front the programme between Monday and Thursday.

Dermot wrote: “Huzzah! Welcome to the fam,” while Alison said she felt 'so excited'.

TV presenter and former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! contestant Josie Gibson, who often features on This Morning, also added: “I feel a work welcome party coming on!!!!!”.
