There's a bunch of absolutely cracking new stuff to watch on telly at the moment.

While we patiently wait for I'm A Celeb to kick off later this month, sofa critics have a number of other TV shows to sink their teeth into to pass the time.

However, there's one throwback miniseries from back in 2016 which has clearly stood the test of time, after being hailed as the 'most underrated crime series' of all time.

Based on the BBC series Criminal Justice, HBO's eight-part gritty drama stars the likes of the Sound of Metal's Riz Ahmed and The Big Lebowski star, John Turturro.

The plot follows Nasir 'Naz' Khan (Ahmed) who gives a lift to a mysterious woman and takes her to a party hosted by his friend in New York.

However, he is later charged with murder when she is found dead, and is forced to prove his innocence.

The series clearly went down a treat at the time, winning a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor as well as an Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directing among many other prestigious accolades.

So, it wasn't surprising when the drama received a seriously impressive 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The series in question is none other than The Night Of, and you can check out the official trailer here:

Clearly still worth the hype, despite the fact it landed on our screens eight years ago, viewers have recently rushed to social media sharing their praise for The Night Of.

One Reddit user dubbed it one of the most 'most underrated' crime series, while another fan tweeted: "HBO's The Night Of is brilliant entertainment.

"Great acting and a great story by Richard Price. You should get on board for this one."

A second X user urged: "The Night Of on HBO is a must watch for Torturro's performance alone."

"Finished #TheNightOf @HBO and am speechless. The performances blew my mind and broke my heart. Watch immediately!" echoed a third.

A fourth declared: "Honestly, there was no thrill like the thrill of watching #TheNightOf for the first time. One of the first limited series to really get it right. I need to do a rewatch (as I still beg for a new season)."

And a final fan added: "Watching HBO The Night Of and it's crazy good. Wow!!"

Well, that's this week's viewing material sorted!

The Night Of is currently available to stream on NOW.
