The docu-film, which has just been released on the streamer today (21 May), has received some rave reviews with an impressive 100 per cent score on Rotten Tomatoes and one critic from Screen International hailing it as 'one of the twistiest documentaries this side of Three Identical Strangers'.

Film Festival Today gave the fair warning: "One thing is guaranteed, however: you will debate the enigma of [the film] long after it is over."

A third critic at RogerEbert.com called it 'a charming, moving, and thought-provoking film'.

Filmaker Magazine dubbed it 'bats**t insane', while The Daily Beast added: "[The film's] astonishing twists and turns transform what appears to be one sort of unbelievable fable into an altogether different eye-opener."

The documentary takes viewers on a 'wild ride' following two sisters who buy an apartment in the small Swedish town of Gullspång.

The sisters soon 'experience their own divine premonition' as, much to their surprise, the seller is identical to their older sister, who died by suicide 30 years earlier.

What starts off as an 'eerie' tale of family reunification soon becomes a 'Pandora's Box' as all three women's lives 'spiral out of control'.

The real-life Nordic mystery, which takes the audience on a 'wild ride of unbelievable twists and turns', is none other than The Gullspång Miracle.

Check out the official trailer here:

People who have already seen the flick have taken to social media to share their praise with one X, formerly Twitter, user writing: "It is one of the most craziest Nordic documentaries I have ever seen - definitely check it out."

A second chimed in: "My favourite film of 2023 was The Gullspång Miracle.

"If you haven't seen it check it out. I think it would be up your alley."

A third admitted they were 'kinda obsessed' with the 'eerie and expertly-crafted Nordic mystery doc'.

"The Gullspång Miracle - really great film, totally subverts the long lost family genre - funny and wise," gushed another.

And a final Twitter user echoed: "The Gullspång Miracle. You never knew what was going to happen next.

"Revelation after revelation. Amazing characters who seemed to be in disbelief what was happening around them. Loved it."

The Gullspång Miracle is currently available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
