It's clear we are not short for some cracking programming this autumn, with show after show gracing our screens as the perfect bit of telly to cosy up with and binge watch.

The latest on our radar is a brand-new murder mystery starring X Factor star, Shayne Ward, 39, which viewers are already praising as 'brilliant'.

The series, which first Channel 5 last Friday (13 October), is titled The Good Ship Murder and stars the likes of Catherine Tyldesley, Claire Sweeney and Geoffrey Breton beside Ward. Check out the trailer here:

The synopsis for the eight-episode programme reads: "New murder mystery series set on board a luxury cruise ship, with Shayne Ward as cabaret singer, Jack, and Catherine Tyldesley as First Officer Kate Woods.

"First destination: death in La Rochelle..."

The pair reunite on screen with their characters making for quite the unlikely duo working together to solve a series of murders from a luxury cruise liner touring everyone's favourite Mediterranean holiday hotspots.

OK - I'm intrigued.

And it seems it's not just me gripped by the plot as many other viewers have already flooded to social media to share their praise for it.

One Facebook user penned: "Loved it, nice easy watching."

Another echoed: "I loved it. They work well together and Shayne singing at the end was brilliant."

A final Facebook user confessed: "Well I would watch Shayne Ward in anything."

I'm sure many people would share a similar sentiment.

Speaking about his character, Jack, Ward shared via Radio Times: "Jack is a really likeable guy.

"He's the type of person who walks into a room and knows everyone - says hello to everyone. He's a really kind soul who always wants to do the best for others and sees the best in others.

"He's done his time in the police force, worked hard, been very committed, and now he's enjoying this new chapter in his life. When we meet him, his past and present are about to collide. He's solving crimes by day and entertaining passengers by night."

The singer concluded: "It's such good fun, a real rollercoaster of a part."

Guess we'll have to wait and see what's more to come...
