If you've never seen Crazy Stupid Love, it's a delightful rom-com starring Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Steve Carell and Julianne Moore.
You might instantly assume that the 'rom' in rom-com is reserved just for Gosling and Stone, but you'd be wrong.
Carell puts in a surprisingly sweet and nuanced performance as he plays Cal Weaver, a man who believes he's really living the dream and ticking all the boxes.

He has everything he could want in life, a stunning home, perfectly behaved children and a beautiful wife, named Emily.
However, as so often happens, his life falls apart just when he thinks he has it all.
Cal discovers that his beloved Emily has been unfaithful, and worse, she wants a divorce.
Suddenly single in his forties and unsure what to do, Cal meets Ryan Gosling's Jacob Palmer, who is a self-declared player.
Jacob makes it his mission to teach Cal how to pull women.
His methods are exactly as cringy as you might expect, too, with prime pick-up-artist cringe moments aplenty.
Desperate for help and to find love though, Cal goes along with his methods.

There's a sting in the tail, though...
Jacob has also met someone, Stone's character Hannah.
While he thinks at first it's all fun and games and that he doesn't have any feelings, he soon realises he's falling for her, fast.
Cal, ultimately, realises Emily is the only woman for him (despite her infidelity) and decides to spill his heart out.
He chooses to do this at a family backyard gathering, where Cal delivers a heartfelt speech telling Emily of his lifelong love for her.
The film ends with them getting back together.
The big twist though, is Cal seeing Jacob at the party with Hannah, and realises the lothario who has been teaching him how to use women... is dating his daughter.
One fan confessed: "I just had no clue how Hannah fit into the picture, and when the penny finally dropped, I was slack-jawed. I think I was as shocked as I was during the end of The Departed."
"I never saw that twist coming!" confessed another.
