Gossip Girl fans go wild after realising where Joe Goldberg’s eerie cage has been used before

Penn Badgley gave a tour of the set of You and revealed a surprising connection to another show

Penn Badgley just revealed that You’s creepiest room once doubled as the set for an iconic place in the Upper East Side.

You served five twisted seasons and 50 episodes of creepy obsession, murder and bookish charm, culminating with its final batch of episodes on Netflix last week.

In the series, Badgley plays a killer who returns to the Big Apple to try and live a normal life. But don’t be fooled by his fresh start, as old habits die hard and Joe’s demons soon get the better of him.

And now that You has wrapped once and for all, the 38-year-old star is letting fans in on a juicy secret. While giving a tour of the spaces seen in the show, including the transparent cage where serial murder Joe holds his victims.

During a fascinating tour of the soundstage where You was filmed, Badgley revealed to Architectural Digest that his other iconic series was filmed in the exact same space more than a decade ago.

“A little bit of an interesting note… this is where we shot Gossip Girl ," he spilled. “This is the same stage where the Waldorf suites or whatever, where they live, it was in this stage,” he adds, referring to the luxurious Manhattan penthouse where Blair Waldorf (played by Leighton Meester) lived on the beloved show.

Spotted: Dan Humphrey stepping out of the shadows and into Blair Waldorf’s old penthouse - who knew terror and New York royalty shared the same soundstage? Well, not really, but you get the gist.

As it turns out, there’s yet another Gossip Girl connection as Mooney’s Bookstore, where Joe works, used to be Dan Humphrey’s loft where he lived with his dad Rufus (Matthew Settle) and his aspiring fashion school student sister Jenny (Taylor Momsen).

“The stage with the bookstore was where the Humphrey loft was,” he adds, “so this place is extremely familiar to me.”

He then remarks, “I was just standing outside looking at the trees and I thought, ‘I’ve been looking at these trees for nearly 20 years now.’ And I thought to myself, ‘Have they grown? Do trees in the city, over the course of 20 years, do they grow?’ They must.

“So that’s just a little window into my brain,” he adds.

Fans of both shows are in shock after discovering the unexpected connection.

“Wow! Literally meant for him,” one Instagram user remarked.

“WHAT??” said another shocked fan.

“Absolutely iconic,” another said.

XOXO, Gossip Girl.
