Paramount is on course to win the bidding war for Warner Bros after Netflix walked away from the months-long battle for a deal.
For those who haven't been keeping up, American entertainment company Warner Bros put itself up for sale last year, which kicked off a huge bidding war between some of the industry's biggest competitors.
Whoever won the chance to acquire the iconic film studio would have the chance to own the rights to everything - not only all of the company's film properties, but everything else under the Warner Bros Discovery umbrella - we're talking networks such as CNN and Discovery, as well as HBO Max, DC Studios, and hugely popular titles such as Harry Potter.
And now, as we say, Paramount is due to come up victorious after Netflix refused to up their offer, admitting that to do so would no longer be 'financially attractive' for the streamer.

Netflix co-chief executives Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters said after Paramount’s latest bid: “The transaction we negotiated would have created shareholder value with a clear path to regulatory approval.

“However, we’ve always been disciplined, and at the price required to match Paramount Skydance’s latest offer, the deal is no longer financially attractive, so we are declining to match the Paramount Skydance bid."
It all began when last December, Warner Bros agreed to a takeover offer from Netflix for some, but not all, of its assets, in a deal worth roughly $82bn (£61bn), according to the BBC.
However, Paramount then swooped in with a rival proposal, which was initially rebuffed by Warner Bros, until it was increased earlier this week by $1 per share.
The company has offered a whopping $111bn (£82.2bn), including debt, which has been deemed 'superior'.
So, after emerging victorious in a deal that's set to change the media landscape, what does it actually mean for us as film and TV viewers?
Well, combining two of Hollywood’s five legacy studios is certainly set to make waves, with huge movies like Harry Potter, Barbie, Superman, and One Battle After Another due to join Paramount's library.
That's not even counting fan-favourite TV series like The White Lotus, Friends, and Succession.
