We're only three days into the New Year and we've already got heaps of cracking telly to help cure those January blues.

However, it appears that one ITV drama in particular is receiving a lot of buzz at the moment after leaving viewers absolutely 'disgusted' after the devastating twist is revealed.

Chronicling the shocking story of 'the greatest miscarriage of justice in British legal history', the four-part series, Mr Bates vs The Post Office, boasts a star-studded cast including the likes of Toby Jones, Ian Hart and Julie Hesmondhalgh.

Check out the official trailer here:

Telling the true story of a decades-long scandal which saw hundreds of works be wrongly accused of crimes between 1999 and 2015, the official premise for the drama reads: "The extraordinary story of the greatest miscarriage of justice in British legal history, where hundreds of innocent sub-postmasters and postmistresses were wrongly accused of theft, fraud and false accounting due to a defective IT system."

The second episode aired Tuesday (2 January) and revealed how computer firm Fujitsu, hired by the Post Office, were unknowingly able to remotely alter the subpostmaster's inputted financial figures.

A worker who was wrongly convicted, Michael Rudkin, portrayed by Shaun Dooley, said in the episode: "That means they can sneak in behind your backs, change your figures and bugger off and leave without a trace."

Many viewers rushed to social media to share their outrage over the story with one X, formerly Twitter, user hitting out: "So shocking and really making my blood boil. I didn't realise the Fujitsu connection!"

A second slammed: "Extraordinary and gobsmacking information about Fujitsu part in The Post Office Scandal. They should be ashamed."

A third piped up: "First part of episode two of Mr Bates Vs The Post Office and my jaw is on the floor! Wow... it's actually unbelievable what went on, shocking what they all went through!"

Many others also rushed in to share their outrage over the scandal in general, with one user writing: "Mr Bates vs The Post Office. I binged watched this yesterday and can honestly say how disgusted at the way the post masters were dealt with, to be told that the shortfall didn’t happen to anyone else was a despicable lie.

"They all deserve what was awarded and more."

Another penned: "Watching Mr Bates Vs The Post Office... what an absolute disgrace. The lies, the cover ups, those poor people. Just reading that the PO boss left with a bonus & a CBE makes me even more disgusted."

"Less than 20 mins in and not sure I can watch this," a third chimed in. "Sick to my stomach."
