As part of the nauseating new Netflix documentary Trainwreck: Poop Cruise, survivors of the ill-fated Carnival Triumph voyage recalled one unexpectedly x-rated aspect of the horror story.
For those unfamiliar with the streaming service addition, the doc tells the tale of 4,000 seafaring passengers plunged into their worst nightmare 12 years ago, when their cruise from Texas to Mexico became flooded with urine and faeces one day.
The four-day incident was triggered by a vital electrical failure, after a fire - caused by a failed fuel oil return line - sprayed gasoline onto a piping hot surface, catastrophically damaging the vessel's generator.

An immediate power cut saw both the ship's mains and propulsion blow, leaving passengers stranded in the sea off the coast of Mexico for almost a week.
Not only were holidaymakers forced to ration the very limited supplies of food and water on-board as a result, but they were forced to endure a major biohazard when raw sewage began being backed up onto deck areas.
Netflix's documentary includes gut-churning recollections from a number of passengers and Carnival staff members, one of whom told viewers of a particularly shocking aspect to the incident.

One day after the power outage, staff decided to open the ship's numerous bars, with passengers plying themselves with booze as a result of their hellish holiday.
According to the cruise director Jen, she thought it was a bad idea and that people would 'go nuts' - which they did.

People reports that passengers urinated off the side of the ship, fights broke out, and red bags full of human waste were tossed onto lifeboats, leading the crew to quickly shut down the bar idea.

But that's not all as a number of guests claim that the cruise descend into even further chaos.
Because of the lack of air conditioning, passengers had moved onto mattresses on the deck, where things became very territorial as everyone began fighting over space and food rations, and some claimed that some passengers even went as far as to start having sex on the deck.
Discussing this aspect of the unnerving documentary, one viewer hit out on Reddit, calling the decision to open the bars 'really stupid', adding: "Like what did you expect?? They've been stuck there for 4 days."
Another agreed and mentioned that the people declaring an area to be 'their space' made them think they 'may have had children with them'.

"I could totally see myself doing that in an effort to keep my child safe and away from that." they continued.

"Oh absolutely!!!" someone else replied. "I hadn’t even thought of that, but you’re right. And I imagine the people with children with them went through and extra level of hell (like the man with his preteen daughter). The added stress of having to care for and protect them in such a chaotic environment."
A fourth added: "Yes! It was a reminder that there were children there as well. And then hearing about all the drunk people fighting, and having sex out in the open. Ugh."

"Oh those poor children and their parents. How awful," a fifth noted.
According to another Carnival passenger who spoke to press recently, after the ship was eventually towed to Mobile, Alabama over several days, the travel company eventually provided a small compensation of $500.
They're also said to have issued refund for the trip home for each passenger.
