MAFS UK viewers confused over bride Sacha's comments about her dad meeting new husband Ross

Married At First Sight UK viewers couldn't help but cringe during last night's instalment after one bride seemed to rely rather too heavily on her father's approval of her new hubby.

In fact, her comments left some fans so baffled that they couldn't help but check they'd heard her right, taking to social media to express their confusion.

Ever since the eagerly-awaited 2024 series landed last month, fans have had their fingers crossed that Sacha and Ross would make their romance last, after enjoying a mutual attraction to one another on the day they tied the knot.

And thankfully, their marriage has been pretty smooth sailing so far, with the pair having developed a strong bond as well as unbreakable trust during their time together so far.

They relished a plush honeymoon organised by MAFS bosses after exchanging vows, and viewers can't seem to deny the chemistry between the pair.

This week, however, it may well have been that the couple have hit a bump in the road after meeting one another's in-laws for the first time.

And one particular moment from last night's show hasn't gone down too well with viewers, after Sacha made a series of remarks about her father.

"It's super important that Ross impresses my dad today," Sacha began in a confessional. "His opinion means more than anyone's to me.

"If my dads not happy, it could all go t**s up."

Minutes later, the bride's parents walked in, after which Sacha leaped into her father Bryn's arms.

He then explained in his own confessional: "It's important for me to speak to Ross because I want to know how he's going to look after my little girl. Sacha is really important to me, so Ross needs to impress me today, really."

Sacha's mum Allison then explained: "He's got to be definitely protective, fiercely loyal and be willing to defend her to the death, even she's wrong, like Byrn does me."

Then, during a tea-time catch-up, Sacha tells her dad: "It's really important that you meet Ross today because your opinion is the most important."

And though Sacha went on to tell her dad he'd be 'so happy with how Ross is' - adding that he 'couldn't be any better' - the fact that he groom is from Manchester as opposed to Birmingham didn't seem to sit too well with him.

Eventually, Bryn and Allison seemed to give Ross their seal of approval - especially after Ross and Bryn bonded while having a work out together in the gym.

By this point, however, the interaction has already caused quite the stir online, with viewers concerned as to why Sacha - an adult woman - seems to be prioritising her father's opinions over her own feelings.

"This girl needs to understand that she's a grown woman now. Dad's approval is good but not a make or break in a relationship. #MAFSUK" one viewer hit out on social media last night.

Another added: "Sorry does her dad need to approve everything? Even where she takes a shit???? She’s aware she can have an independent thought away from her dad right?"

And a third added: "My dad would be really uncomfortable with a man all over me' is that you man or your dad????"
