Comedian Jimmy Kimmel has posted a defiant message to Donald Trump after his show was reinstated.

Last month, Kimmel's show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, was temporarily taken off the air following the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at a college campus in Utah on 10 September.

In a segment addressing the shooting, Kimmel made comments about MAGA supposedly attempting to gain 'political points' from the 31-year-old's passing, as well as President Donald Trump's remarks about the construction of the White House's ballroom when asked how he was holding up after Kirk's death.

Following backlash, ABC, which broadcasts Jimmy Kimmel Live!, released a statement where they said the show would be suspended 'indefinitely', which received criticism from the likes of Barack Obama and Ben Stiller.

However, on September 23, the comedian made his grand return to TV screens and shared his opinion on the situation.

And the latest episode of Kimmel's show, filmed in Brooklyn, New York, will feature two special guests.

The Instagram picture shows Kimmel along with fellow comedians Seth Meyers and Stephen Colbert standing together on stage.

Behind the trio is a packed out house applauding for the photo, with the post having the cheeky caption: "Hi Donald!"

And those online were loving it, as one person wrote: "This is gold."

Another said: "LEGENDS BEING LEGENDARY," while a third commented: "Hi Donald is crazyyyy! Making Late Night TV Great Again."

And a fourth suggested that the three 'live rent free' in Trump's head, adding: "And I love it."

Both Meyers and Colbert have also been subject to Trump's ire, as when the President took to his social media platform Truth Social to celebrate Kimmel's suspension, he also took aim at Meyers and Colbert.

He wrote on 18 September: "Great News for America: The ratings-challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done.

"Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible. That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!! President DJT."

And in another Truth Social post, he branded Colbert as 'very boring', writing: "He is not funny, which he gets paid far too much to be, he is not wise, he is VERY BORING, and his show is dying from a complete lack of viewers —Gutfeld, on cable, is killing him!"

In another defiant picture, Kimmel shared a photo of himself interviewing Colbert and used Trump's remarks about them both to promote the show.

He wrote: "Be sure to watch 'NO TALENT' Jimmy Kimmel on Colbert and 'VERY BORING' Stephen Colbert on #KimmelinBrooklyn simultaneously tonight!"

Meanwhile, Meyers also shared a photo of the three comedians with the hashtag 'StrikeForceQuorum', in reference to their previous podcast, Strike Force Five.
