I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! viewers have been wondering what 'demisexuality' actually means after campmate Tulisa opened up about her views on sex and relationships.

The N-Dubz star had a very candid chat with the fellow celebs in the camp during last night's episode (19 November) where she discussed why she's chosen to remain celibate over the last few years.

Explaining she's made an effort to avoid dating apps, Tulisa did reveal she tried out Raya which is a private members' app aimed at A-listers and high-profile personalities.

"Even though I’ve been on there, I’ve never gone on an actual date with anyone on there," she explained. "I’m proper guarded."

She then added: "I feel like I’m demisexual, I need to have a really close emotional bond with someone … I need actual depth. I’m a slow, slow burner. I’ve been celibate for over three years."

During the chat, fellow campmate Dean McCullough asked Tulisa some more about her celibacy.

"I’m not an overly sexualised person," the 36-year-old 'Playing with Fire' singer explained. "For me, it’s all about the connection and the emotions that I feel with someone and then wanting to express them in that way."

Tulisa also added that it makes her feel 'physically sick' to imagine sleeping with or dating someone she doesn’t have a connection with, adding: "This is my temple, you cannot enter!"

Campmate Alan Halsall then lightheartedly joked: "It sounds like a Bushtucker Trial where you’ve gotta find a key to Tulisa’s temple!"

What is demisexuality?

Well, according to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), demisexuality describes a sexual orientation where sexual attraction only occurs after a close emotional bond has been formed.

BACP member Karen Pollock, a counsellor and psychotherapist in private practice, working with gender, sex and relationship diversity, added: "As with all sexual orientations, it describes feelings, not behaviours."

She noted that some demisexuals can, and do, have sex and can be in relationships with and/or sexually attracted to people of all genders.

"Demisexuals can also be sex repulsed, sex neutral or sex favourable, just like anyone else," Pollock said.
