I’m a Celeb’s Fred Sirieix has finally spoken out after Nella Rose said he ‘made life hell’, having both often left viewers confused by their unlikely spats.

The pair had initially fallen out after Fred joked about being old enough to be her father, inadvertently offending the YouTuber, whose own dad passed away a few years ago.

After being elected camp leader, Nella then decided to take revenge on Fred after he supposedly made her life in camp ‘hell’.

“Washing up duty, we have Fred and [Nigel] Farage,” she told the camp.

“You guys like to pick up things that people have cleaned, throw them on the muddy floor and tell them to wash it again. So now, unfortunately, roles reversed."

Speaking to fellow contestants Sam and Danielle afterwards, Nella said: “Fred has been making my life hell for a long time and I’ve been trying to keep my mouth shut and I feel like karma is a b***h.”

After being booted from the show, both Nella and Fred have now spoken out about the matter, saying their supposed feud was all just a huge ‘misunderstanding’.

Speaking on This Morning via video link, Fred told presenters Rylan Clark and Emma Willis: “For me, it’s just a misunderstanding. You’re in the jungle, it’s like a pressure cooker, and it’s just the way it is.

“But all I will say is that I was very surprised of their hate for Nella when I came out.

“I think it is totally wrong, it’s unfair and not in my name.

“Today I did a couple of interviews with journalists and I just said, ‘This is not fair.’

Fred said the backlash against Nella was unfair.

“And that’s all I will say on that topic. Nella is a lovely girl, and things happen, you move on.

“I don’t know what all this fuss is about, to be honest with you.”

Nella told Rylan and Emma she found Fred’s comments about her dad triggering, but agreed it was just a misunderstanding.

"Everything in the jungle everything is intensified," she explained, adding that it's also partly the nature of live TV.

Nella continued: "I haven't been able to watch anything back yet.

"But I know everything that's gone on.

"It is a big, fat misunderstanding - we have got over it."

Nella agreed it was all a misunderstanding.

As for why Fred decided to say yes to the show, he admitted he just really wanted a ‘challenge’ and a ‘test’.

“When I found out I was going in the jungle, I had nightmares for three months, dreaming about bugs,” he said.

“I was waking up, I could see them on my pillow, and this is how I prepared.

“[…] I trained for six months – gruelling training to get ready, because in the jungle, what people don’t see on television is that it’s a big large camp.

“So for example, if you want to go and get the wood or the water, you have to go all the way down and then go all the way up there.

“Because you don’t eat anything, it’s just rice and beans, you need the calories and you need the energy.

“And by the end of the day, you are walking so slowly, it’s really difficult.”

I'm a Celebrity continues tonight at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
