It's been just over two weeks since the long-awaited second series of House of The Dragon returned to our TV screens.

However, amidst all the political scheming, incest and dragons, fans were left with more than they bargained for during the series' most recent episode after coming face-to-face with an erect penis during a rather explicit sex scene.

For those unfamiliar with the premise for the show, HOTD was first announced back in 2019, following the controversial conclusion of its predecessor, Game of Thrones.

Set 200 years before the events of GOT, HOTD follows the civil war known as 'The Dance of the Dragons' between Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen and her half-brother, Aegon Targaryen, after the death of their father, Viserys Targaryen I, as both seek to take their place on the Iron Throne.

And similar to GOT, HOTD is not short of explicit scenes - some of which have left some viewers 'very uncomfortable' because, you know, incest.

This week, however, even the most hard-faced of fantasy fans were left picking their jaws up off the floor when a scene from the most recent episode saw one of the main characters completely naked, proudly flaunting his evidently fully-erect penis.

The scene in question sees King Aegon Targaryen II (played by Tom Glynn-Carney) heads to King's Landing's most high-profile brothel with his posse of squires with the plan of introducing one of them - who just so happens to be a virgin - to the city's famously flexible ladies.

After whipping back one of the facilities curtains, however, Aegon - and viewers at home - came face-to-face with his younger brother Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) in attendance with a sex worker.

After some ribbing from his older brother, Aemond took a stand against him - figuratively and literally - before marching out of the room, completely naked.

And the scene came as such a shock to viewers that they couldn't help but express their horror online.

Taking to social media this week, one admitted: "Great new episode of House of The Dragon but that brothel scene caught me off guard".

Another went on: "Omg House of the Dragon???? That brothel scene was ummm".

"House of the dragon is peak television... but that brothel scene might be the most unnecessary scenes in television history", a third added.

A fourth said: "Imagine watching the latest episode of House of the Dragon with your parents, and THAT brothel scene comes out of nowhere lol."

However, according to the director, Geeta Patel, the decision to go 'fully nude' was made by Mitchell as it was 'who his character is', adding: "That’s what he would do."

"And that’s what we did." she said.
