The BBC have received staggering acclaim for the stellar crime-thriller series they continue to knock out, year upon year.

With on-screen bangers like Happy Valley, The Responder and Line of Duty on their impressive library already, it's no wonder that telly-lovers are in a constant state of anticipation, desperately wondering what spine-tingling chiller Beeb producers have up their sleeves for us next.

Luckily enough, this week, audiences have been delighted to learn that a hugely successful, plot-twist littered hit - the cataclysmic ending of which left viewers on the edge of their seats - has been renewed for a second series.

And even more exciting? The follow-up instalment of the police procedural drama will be landing on our screens in a matter of weeks.

The first series of this returning three-part favourite - which dropped all the way back in 2022 - told the story of former sergeant in the Royal Military Police, now Aberdeen-based detective, Davis Lindo.

Despite initially having hopes of teaching newbies the ropes at Scotland Yard, Lindo is thrown into the tiny Scottish police force, where he strikes up an unlikely friendship with DCI Lara Bartlett, his mentor.

The first series of Granite Harbour was a hit with viewers.

That's right, we're talking Granite Harbour.

There's no time for the pair to get to know each other, however, as they soon find themselves in the midst of a fatal corporate power struggle, which results in the suspicious death of an extremely influential and highly wealthy oil tycoon named Clellan Coburn.

Following an intense investigation - during which a girl is kidnapped, forbidden romances are exposed and family ties are severed - Coburn's killer is finally caught in a showdown that viewers described as 'fantastic'.

"Finished…Granite Harbour on BBC iPlayer…Brilliant," one penned on Twitter following the first series.

Another gushed: "I would like to recommend Granite Harbour on BBC iPlayer - definitely worth a watch - only 3 episodes"

"Watched it on BBC Iplayer not sure if you can find it on other sites but overall 3 episodes for entire series is kinda of a joke but overall it does have a really fantastic ending no spoilers ofc ;)" a third went on.

The new series lands next month.
BBC

"Overall 7/10 Should have been 6 episodes."

And back in August last year, fans of the show were over the moon when the BBC announced a second series of the heart-stopping hit.

"We’re delighted to have Granite Harbour return to BBC Scotland and can’t wait to see Aberdeen shining on screen next year," executive producer for BBC Scotland Gavin Smith said at the time.

"Lindo and Bart are a great double act detective duo and we’re excited to see what crime they come against this time around.

"The first series of Granite Harbour was an iPlayer success story for the North East and BBC Scotland will continue to develop and support scripted content representing different areas of Scotland."

And after months of anticipation, producers have revealed that the new series will land on the BBC and iPlayer in 'May 2024'.

We cannot wait!
