If you're on the lookout for a brand new binge-worthy box-set to rattle your way through this weekend, boy, do we have the crime-drama for you.

In recent weeks, fans of on-screen psychological thrillers have had their pick of the mix when it comes shows to sink their teeth into.

Netflix dropped the spine-tingling drama series Baby Reindeer last week, which has already sky-rocketed to the No. 1 spot after blowing viewers' minds.

And ITV audiences are already obsessed with police chiller Red Eye, despite the big-name series only premiering three days ago.

Now, if you've already soared your way through these two top picks, however, and are in desperate need of some more morbidly enticing entertainment, look no further.

That's because a mind-bending South African true-crime banger has this week been sending UK viewers wild after airing on the arguably underrated channel, Alibi.

The 11-part hit tells the story of real-life cases handled by 1990s forensic psychologist, Micki Pistorius.

During this time, the prolific police investigator was responsible was unravelling some of most gruesome, complex crime mysteries that rattled South Africa, and even played a major part in securing convictions for a handful of serial killers terrorising her home-country.

In the television adaptation, British actress Charlotte Hope - famed for her role in HBO's Game of Thrones - plays the role of the illustrious police boss, whilst South African stars Donna Cormack-Thomson and Steven John Ward play her supporting staff.

If you're still not sure which on-screen favourite we're referencing, let me give you a hand.

We are, of course, going on about Catch Me A Killer, which is also the title of the real life Micki's autobiography released back in 2000, before the on-screen adaptation first premiered on South African channel Showmax in February.

And if we haven't quite convinced you that this heart-stopping, real-life inspired series is worth a go at, we're sure that fellow audience reviews will do the trick, with many claiming they're 'hooked' on the show.

In fact, some are already imploring with producers to release a follow-up instalment.

"@ShowmaxOnline I’m genuinely begging you guys for a season 2 of Catch Me A Killer," one penned on social media.

Another went on: "One other thing I admire about “Catch Me A Killer” is the attention to set design. It’s set in 1990s South Africa and it looks exactly like that down to the Coke cans they use. Love this show."

"Usually not a fan of true crime shows but Catch Me A Killer on Showmax is too good," a third went on.

Another penned: "What a great performance by that guy who played Mhlengwa Zikode on Catch Me A Killer, at some point I was scared of him"

"Catch me a killer on @alibi_channel really does go further than a lot of the crime dramas I've watched over the past few years in terms of the details and psychology of each killer #catchmeakiller #alibichannel," another gushed.

A fifth continued: "Catch me a killer’ on showmax. One of the best SA series I’ve watched."
