Bridgerton fans ‘mind blown’ after figuring out where they recognise Lady Araminta from

Fans saw a familiar face but it took a while for the penny to drop...

The long-awaited season four of Bridgerton has arrived and, as well as swooning over Benedict Bridgerton's love story, fans have been scratching their head over one star's identity.

If you'd been frowning at the screen trying to figure out where you'd seen the fierce Lady Araminta Gun before, you're not alone.

It seems that many of us (me included) had been firing up IMDb to figure out where we recognised the stunning face of the new matriarch character from in the latest series.

Lady Araminta is the twice-married and twice-widowed mother of two daughters, who are debuting on the Bridgerton marriage mart.

Her daughters, Rosamund and Posy Li, are played by Michelle Mao and Isabella Wei, respectively.

Lady Araminta is determined to do what it takes to see her daughters wed to an eligible bachelor, and ideally to the desirable - but rakish - second son of the Bridgerton clan, Benedict.

The steely mother is played by none other than Katie Leung, who shot to fame as Cho Chang in the Harry Potter franchise.

Many fans didn't put two and two together thanks to Katie naturally having a Scottish accent, which was heard in the wizarding films but not in Bridgerton.

"THANK YOU! I was trying to figure it out!" wrote one relieved fan upon discovering the identity of Katie's familiar face.

Another confessed: "I didn’t even recognize her until my mom told me after the end of the first episode."

"Oh my goodness I didn't recognise her!" exclaimed a third, while someone else added: "I thought she looked very familiar and now I'm blown away!"

Cho Chang was Harry Potter's love interest for a brief spell in 2007's Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

"Harry Potter fumbled," joked one person.

Others couldn't believe Katie, 38, is already being cast in 'motherly' roles, with one writing: "She deserved to be the leading romantic role before doing mothers. She is only 37!"

Another insisted: "She is too good, I just wish she got younger roles. She ain’t that old to play mother of two full grown adult women!"

One critic pointed out Katie is a similar age to 37-year-old Benedict actor Luke Thompson, asking: "Why does he get to romance with teens while Katy plays mother of two fully grown adults?"

It's worth noting that in the Netflix show, Luke's character is 30, and Sophie Baek, his love interest is 24, played by Yerin Ha, who is actually 28.

Following her role in Harry Potter, Katie went to train at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

She went on to work for the likes of the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre of Scotland, and the Royal Court Theatre.

Katie also starred in BBC dramas such as One Child and Annika.

The star recently shared a video of her dressed as Lady Araminta on Instagram, with the caption: "A gentle reminder: I'm Your Mother."

Fans can't wait to see what her character gets up to in part two of the series which drops on Netflix on 26 February.
