Listen up any 90s kids - Balamory will be making an iconic return to our screens after more than 20 years since it last aired in 2005.

The BBC announced the exciting news earlier today (17 September) that the BAFTA award-winning children's programme about the fictional town of Balamory will see two new seasons commissioned for 2026.

The TV show, which centres around the goings on at a nursery school and its teacher Miss Hoolie, attracted a whopping two million viewers a week in the UK at its peak.

The two new upcoming seasons are also expected to include some of the original characters.

Julie Wilson Nimmo, who played the beloved Miss Hoolie in the original show which aired from 2002 to 2005, told the Daily Record it was the 'craziest and best news ever that Balamory is coming back'.

Kate Morton, Head of Commissioning 0-6 for BBC Children’s and Education says: "A whole new generation will discover and enjoy Balamory as we bring families together with this new update for CBeebies.

"It will be a real treat for parents who grew up with the show to now introduce their little ones to the brightly coloured world getting to know a host of old and new characters together."
