Bake Off viewers stunned as show’s 'rudest' episode airs with innuendo every 35 seconds

Bake Off viewers stunned as show’s 'rudest' episode airs with innuendo every 35 seconds

Channel 4 co-judge Alison Hammond came plied with endless X-rated remarks

Fans of the Great British Bake Off will know by now that the hit cooking competition is no stranger to a smutty innuendo.

But the raunchiness seemingly reached boiling point last night, with some viewers counting a staggering total of nine racy remarks during one particular nine-minute segment.

As we say, throughout the shows long-standing presence on our television screens, viewers have been subjected to countless bawdy jokes.

Not only are the risks involved in a 'soggy bottom' still discussed annually during cake week, but sleazy remarks about 'buns', 'cream' and 'erect' biscuit constructions still frequent the show.

Perhaps my favourite of all time? A straight-faced Prue Leith asking contestant Nicky last year to present her animalistic show-stopper, asking the baker, 'So, Nicky, tell us about your beaver...'.

Anyway - by the sounds of things, Channel 4's cheekiness reached a whole new level during last night's episode, with x-rated remarks being made left, right and centre - every 35 seconds, to be precise.

The tongue-in-cheek chaos kicked off during the episode's Technical Challenge, when presenters of Bake Off Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding prescribed the remaining six bakers with the task of whipping up a batch of steamed sponge puddings, topped with a sweet caramel drizzle.

Otherwise - and unfortunately - known as Spotted Dicks.

For those unfamiliar with the classic British dessert, this fluffy (yet tragically-titled) delight describes a pudding traditionally made with suet and dried fruit, and often served with custard.

With the knowledge that the name of the challenge itself would likely set the contestants off into a fit of laughter, Alison came plied with some follow-up jokes.

"You have two and a half hours to get your dicks ready", the This Morning presenter initially quipped.

It was then that her co-star Noel seemingly felt an obligation to remind the group of cooking connoisseurs that they needed to be on their best behaviour throughout the 8pm broadcast, describing the series as a 'family show'.

By this point, however, it was too late - the bakers had gotten the giggles.

One confessed whilst looking over the very minimal list of instructions: "I’ve never seen a spotted dick, I’ve never tried it."

And another then chimed in to tease: "My boyfriend told me that spotted dick is very nice.”

Whilst attempting to wrap the dessert up with a piece of string, another jested: "I need a finger, that’s what I have a husband for, it’s his only use."

Despite the initial amusement, viewers were left heartbroken at the end of the episode, when three-time 'Star Baker' Sumaya was eliminated after Prue and her co-judge Paul Hollywood found her dessert to be drastically underbaked.

Thankfully, however, Sumaya turned her exit into a positive, leaving viewers laughing by warning them 'never to cry over dick'.

Iconic behaviour all round.
