Netflix viewers 'hooked' on shocking series with 'best British cast' ever as it finally lands on streaming platform

The four-part drama-thriller first landed on Channel 5 last year

Despite only having landed on Netflix a matter of hours ago, an eerie new addition has sky-rocketed straight to the streaming service's Top 10 shows.

And to make matters even more exciting, the four-part banger features a dazzling array of British acting veterans and huge-name stars, all of whom have apparently left viewers completely and utterly 'hooked'.

Picture this: much-loved father-of-three Dennis Watson drops dead unexpectedly, leaving his adult children both blindsided and heartbroken.

Within a matter of days, however, each of the Watson children's thoughts dissolve from grief into concern, as they begin to fear the possibility that their dad may have changed his last will and testimony prior to his unexpected passing.

The two sisters and their brother each desperately need the money - one is in a life-threatening amount of debt, one needs a life re-start and the other has been acting suspiciously for weeks.

But, who would have stood to benefit from a premature death? Would someone have tampered with the documents? And could someone actually be behind this gorily-staged accident?

Perhaps it's Dennis' new wife, Sue - whom the children knew nothing about...

One final question - anyone else got chills?

Anyway, such is the tale told in Channel 5's chilling hit The Inheritance.

While Gavin and Stacey star Larry Lamb plays the trio's affluent father - who they soon discover was, in fact, tragically murdered, the siblings are portrayed by three further acting superstars.

Coronation Street alum Robert James-Collier (who played Liam Connor on the soap in the 2010s) takes on the role of Daniel, Emmerdale icon (who played Megan Macey) Gaynor Faye plays his sister Sian, and former child star Jemima Rooper (who previously appeared as George in Enid Blyton's The Famous Five) plays their other sibling, Chloe.

And who else should play mysterious seductress Sue than ex-Miss Moneypenny, Samantha Bond?

As we say, ever since landing on Netflix recently, the series has shot straight into viewers' good books, with many gushing over The Inheritance online.

"The Inheritance on Netflix is well worth a watch," one penned on social media this week. "Excellent British cast and satisfyingly twistyturney if you’re looking for something to watch. I was hooked!"

Another went on: "Just watched the first episode. The characters are getting established and the casting looks really good. Interesting narration with hooks in the right places.

"Looking forward to the next episode. Acting is really good by this star-studded cast, with the character personalities being brought out brilliantly by the actors in the series."

A third added: "Really enjoyed watching this. Excellent performances from the cast, in particular Robert James-Collier who played the son Daniel Watson. James-Collier is an excellent leading man with great intensity.

"Great acting from Gaynor Faye, Jemima Cooper and Samantha Bond too. The whole cast in fact. Also really enjoyed the filming style and cinematography, particularly in the scene where Daniel goes to the caravan in the woods - felt very scandi.

"Also an excellent storyline - for those saying the siblings were quite unlikeable, that was the point! I liked the ending - it felt quite fitting what happened to them all."

The Inheritance is available to stream on Netflix now.
