Ever since the very first season of Squid Game hit Netflix and pretty much broke the internet back in 2021, Netflix users have been counting down the days until their next fix of the South Korean dystopian thriller series.

After three years of waiting, the second season has now finally dropped on Boxing Day (26 December) and it didn't take long for the seven-parter to sky-rocket to the 'No. 1 in TV Programmes Today' spot.

However, it seems like Squid Game has made a pretty major change to the show in the latest series and fans may not be too happy about it.

Check out the official Netflix trailer here:

Now, the latest season's first episode features just two kills - a number's worlds apart from the whopping 255 kills in the first episode of the premiere season.

This Red Light, Green Light game shocked viewers so much that it launched Squid Game into viral fame.

However, Netflix viewers may be feeling somewhat 'underwhelmed' at the lack of violence in the latest season compared to its predecessor.

A TV source told The Sun: "Squid Game introduced the world to Korean drama and became a phenomenon.

"Most of that was down to the eye-popping murder games, the likes of which had never been seen beyond Hunger Games and Battle Royale."

They continued: "Instead of hooking fans with the same kind of horror in series two, makers have done the exact opposite.

"You’ll find more than two murders in an average episode of a British soap."

It seems Netflix viewers felt the same with one X user hitting out: "Season 2 of Squid Game lowkey boring like idgaf about the storyline just show me the games."

A second slammed: "Squid Game is so underwhelming likeee WHAT WAS EVEN THAT its lowkey so messy and all over the place."

"Done watching Squid Game. It is so boring. What a waste, the only good part was the salesman lmao," piped up a third, while a fourth chimed in: "Squid Game S2: Very slow and boring most of the time."

A fifth continued: "Squid Game 2 was so underwhelming i cared about almost none of the characters the games weren't thrilling to watch."

"I feel like wasted my time watching the whole Squid Game. This Season is boring. There’s really no thrill with games unlike in S1. I almost fell asleep tbh," added another.

And a final X user declared: "Okay I’m just gonna say it Squid Game 2 is not as good as season 1."
