Netflix fans praise ‘calculated’ ‘1000/10’ action thriller that leaves viewers wanting more with huge cliffhanger

Netflix subscribers have been raving about a new thriller which is 'intense and action packed from the start'.

The streaming service added the film, which stars Aaron Pierre, Don Johnson and AnnaSophia Robb, to its catalogue on 6 September and it seems fans can't get enough of the gripping drama.

However, what appeared to shock them the most was that it ends on a huge cliffhanger.

I know, cliffhangers are the bane of life, but according to those who watched the action-packed flick, it’s well worth it.

The movie tells the story of an ex-Marine (played by Pierre) who has to figure out the complex small-town corruption after attempting to post bail money for his cousin goes wrong.

Now, he’s battling it out with the local police chief and things turn violent, fast.

Taking to X, fans raved about the thriller - called Rebel Ridge - and confidently recommended it to others.

One wrote: “That movie was 1000/10 just wish they didn’t leave us with a cliffhanger.”

A second commented: "#RebelRidge was a really good movie. It was intense and action packed from the start. Literally had me on the edge of my seat but the ending... a bit of a cliffhanger lol but yeah good movie overall."

Someone else penned: “Anyways Rebel Ridge absolutely F**KSSSSS on one hand its gonna surprise you that its not the guns blazing action the trailer will have you believe but on the other hand its so much more calculated that what it lets on.”

While another said: “Rebel Ridge is ace. Exactly the kind of film folks say they don't make anymore, an intelligent neo-western with great performances, terrific action and tons of tension. I loved it.”

And a final viewer praised: “Rebel Ridge is a good watch. Great acting! It's not as action packed as I was hoping, but it's still good. Idk if the ending was meant as a cliffhanger, but we need more of Aaron Pierre!”

It's also been a hit with critics, sitting at a 94 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

One critic wrote that it’s a ‘beautifully crafted pressure cooker, grounded in simplicity and truth and fuelled by palpable rage against injustice and corruption’.

Speaking to Huffington Post, lead actor Pierre shared: “It’s not every day that an opportunity like this presents itself.

“The script is of such a high quality that I was immediately thrilled to even be in connection with it. And when I got connected with Jeremy, that was one of the first things I articulated to him - the nuance, details and dynamic nature of not only the script but all of the characters. It just is a beautiful screenplay.

“So, for me, it was undeniable. There’s no world where I would’ve said anything but yes to be part of this project.”
