Harlan Coben has warning for anyone who hasn’t finished his latest Netflix series yet

Harlan Coben has warning for anyone who hasn’t finished his latest Netflix series yet

The Netflix series dropped today and you've got five episodes to enjoy

Harlan Coben has issued a warning to anyone who hasn’t finished his new series.

There’s just something about Coben’s book adaptations on Netflix that itches all the right spots for viewers.

With twists and turns at every opportunity, there’s no surprise why people get hooked.

You’ve probably already watched The Stranger and Fool Me Once, but if you’ve yet to dig into Coben's latest thriller, you’ve been warned.

Missing You has officially dropped on Netflix today (1 January) and stars Rosalind Eleazar as Detective Kat Donovan.

It tells the story of her fiancé Josh (played by Ashley Walters) after he vanishes into thin air for 11 years.

But after a decade, she suddenly comes face to face with him when swiping profiles on a dating app.

From then, she’s pulled back into the mystery of his departure, as well as the unanswered questions revolving around her father’s murder.

During a panel press interview for the show in London, Coben revealed some juicy details about it.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, he said: "This is five episodes. Most of the (shows) we’ve done are eight. So it’s a little tighter story."

Well, what the author said next was an absolute warning to anyone considering turning on the flick tonight.

Coben revealed: "And I can say, I think this is the most emotional ending that I’ve experienced. When I watched episode 5, I actually cried.

"I think I had a little bit of a tear my eye at the end of Fool Me Once. But I think this will be our most emotional series."

But while it has all the hallmarks of a thriller, it’s ‘also a love story’.

He explained: "Really, the story between Kat and Josh is at the centre here. Also, it’s really about family."

Now, if you’re wondering who else is in the series, you’ll be glad to know that Coben has reunited with Richard Armitage, who has now featured in every one of his four Netflix series.

Coben continued: "One of the reasons this feels different is there isn’t a dense sub-plot surrounding a second character.

"There are two story threads that converge at the end, but they are being handled by one character, Kat, and because there is only one person dealing with everything, the train moves at a faster pace.

"Kat is batted between these storylines of discovery. It’s a really difficult thing to perform because every step of the way you are reacting to new information. Rosalind handles it so brilliantly."

An official synopsis for the show reads: "While Kat investigates the case of a missing person, Josh’s reappearance forces her to dive back into the mystery surrounding her father’s murder and uncover long-buried secrets from her past."

On social media, people have already expressed their excitement about watching it.

One user commented: “Already Hooked. Still getting over Fool Me Once [& The Stranger]... @HarlanCoben Brilliant.”

Another said: “@HarlanCoben always releasing on New Years to start the year in a good way!”
