Love Is Blind star speaks out after receiving backlash over Megan Fox comparison

Millions of dating show fans around the world have been sinking their teeth into the latest series of Love Is Blind, which dropped on Netflix earlier this month.

And amongst the plethora of tear-jerking confessions, lustful looks and emotional reunions is one moment that viewers just can't seem to stop talking about.

Within minutes of appearing on the show, one of the female Love Is Blind contestants, named Chelsea Blackwell, made a controversial claim that she had a celebrity doppleganger.

"Do you ever get told you look like a celebrity?" the flight attendant asked prospective romantic partner Jimmy on the much-loved show.

After he claimed he did, Chelsea replied: "I do, too. All the time on the planet. I get one person, and it's just because I have dark hair and blue eyes."

"Ooh," an intrigued Jimmy could then be heard replying, before Chelsea went on: "But I don't see it, so don't get excited. I don't even know if it's MGK's wife or girlfriend..."

"Megan Fox?!" Jimmy then exclaims. "You're saying you look like Megan Fox?"

"It's just because I have light eyes and dark hair," she teased back. "That's the only reason, there's nothing else. At least I'm assuming so."

A visibly delighted Jimmy then asks: "Can we get married?"

A couple of episodes later, however - after they'd gotten engaged - and when they came face-to-face for the first time, he accused her of 'lying' about her appearance.

"She definitely lied to me about some, uh, how she looked," he told viewers in a cringe-worthy 1-1 confessional. "Chelsea told me she looked like Megan Fox.

"At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter. I am very attracted to her. I can work with that."

It wasn't just Jimmy that was shocked by Chelsea's claim, however, and since the show aired, the dating show beauty has sadly been trolled by viewers, who didn't see the resemblance to the Jennifer's Body star.

"Megan Fox? Who lied to her? And he only picked her because she said that," one penned on social media this week.

"When she said Megan fox I GASPED" another wrote, while a third said: "No because who lied and told Chelsea from Love Is Blind that she looks like Megan Fox, I can’t breathe."

Others, however, have defended Chelsea's claim and hit out at those who've been mocking her online.

"The Megan Fox joke is boring now, guys. I think Chelsea is beautiful despite what she did. It's not easy getting bullied online by others. Please have a little compassion," someone wrote, while another said she did 'look like Megan Fox'.

And now, Chelsea herself has spoken out against the trolling.

Sharing a lighthearted video of her dancing on TikTok to Led Zeppelin's 'Immigrant Song' - with a glass of wine in hand - she captioned it: "Go on a show for love > get your butt dragged through the trenches."

But that wasn't all as Chelsea also posted another TikTok with the caption: "Truly humbled by the internet," as well as the hashtag #meganfox.

In the video, she lip-synced a viral soundbite with the text 'POV: Watching Love Is Blind and waiting for THAT scene' written over the top.

She also went on to repost a message - originally written by her gal pal Presley Carter - which read: "Thank you all who are from our hometown and known Chels for all of your love and support for her through this!

"It’s been so exciting to watch her and see everything! Also very hard because people are so mean here on the internet and take reality TV way too seriously. Like it’s a show yall, we need to cool it [wink emoji]".
