Netflix announces new series that will give Grey's Anatomy fans something new to binge

Grey's Anatomy fans are guaranteed to enjoy this Netflix show, and there isn't too long to wait...

Though much-loved medical drama Grey's Anatomy is still in production after 19 years, many fans believe the show has had its heyday.

I mean, come on. We've lost half of the huge-name stars that made the ABC series such a success, many of whom left Seattle Grace Hospital to move onto bigger and better things.

And yes, we know that leading lady Ellen Pompeo is still in it after all this time, but some fans are calling for a little bit more juice to keep them invested.

So, if you're anything like me, and are growing tired of rewatching the best series' on repeat (seasons 6-10, obvs), then don't worry. We got you.

That's because there's a series soon to be added to Netflix which is being described as a future top pick for Grey's Anatomy fans - or any medical TV lovers, for that matter.

And though it's not set to drop on the streaming service until next year sometime, we're here to give you a cheeky little insight into what you can expect.

Despite being based at a hospital, the incoming production is set to come from a real life angle, as opposed to a fictionalised demonstration of the chaos that walks through the emergency room.

This six-part documentary is titled Critical and follows the story of some of Britain's most elite trauma doctors, attempting to save lives at a bustling London hospital.

And even more excitingly, it's been brought to us by director Jermaine Blake - the genius behind some seasons of Channel 4's award-winning 24 Hours in Police Custody - and will be produced by TV veterans Andrew Fitzpatrick and Mahi Iftikhar.

According to a synopsis released by Netflix this week, the series will have us perched further on the edge of our seats with every new episodes.

"Filmed across London’s major trauma hospitals, ambulance service rapid response teams and heli-medic teams, the documentary series will be an access-all-areas look at this non-stop job, embedding with paramedics, doctors, nurses and surgeons," it read.

"Through these extraordinary clinicians, viewers will meet the patients and loved ones whose lives have been turned upside down in an instant, follow the critical decisions on which their lives depend, and witness the dedication and skill that brings them back from the brink of catastrophe - every single day."

Okay, I'm officially on countdown now...
